Who’s in, who’s out: Most likely playoff scenarios for Texas Panhandle football teams

District 2-5A Division I

Who’s in: Tascosa, Amarillo High, Lubbock Coronado, Caprock

Who’s out: Lubbock Monterey, Lubbock High, Palo Duro

Tascosa (8-1, 5-0): Clinches first outright district championship since 1988 by beating Lubbock Coronado.

Amarillo High (8-2, 5-1): Finished the regular season last week at 8-2, 5-1. Will be the No. 2-seed with a Tascosa win.

Lubbock Coronado (5-4, 4-1): Is more than likely the No. 3-seed unless the Mustangs can upset Tascosa.

Caprock (3-5, 2-3): The Longhorns are locked in as the No. 4-seed.

District 3-5A Division II

Who’s in: Lubbock-Cooper, Wichita Falls Rider

Who’s alive: Abilene High, Randall, Wichita Falls High

Who’s out: Plainview

Lubbock-Cooper (8-1, 4-0): Clinches outright district championship and No. 1-seed with a win against rival Randall.

Wichita Falls Rider (8-1, 3-1): Can clinch the second place spot by beating rival Wichita Falls High.

Randall (5-4, 2-2): Is most likely the No. 3-seed even with a loss at Lubbock-Cooper. If Wichita Falls High beats Wichita Falls Rider, and Abilene Wylie knocks off Plainview, Randall would be left out.

Wichita Falls High (3-6, 2-2): Is still in as the No. 4-seed even with a loss to Wichita Falls Rider.

Abilene Wylie (3-6, 1-3): Needs to beat Plainview and have Wichita Falls High beat Wichita Falls Rider to get in as the No. 4-seed.

District 3-4A Division I

Who’s in: Dumas, Canyon, Hereford, Pampa

Who’s out: Nobody

Dumas (6-2, 2-0): Are already locked in as the No. 1-seed, but can clinch a fifth straight outright district championship with a win against Pampa.

Canyon (7-2, 1-1): Can clinch the second spot with a home win against Hereford.

Hereford (6-3, 1-1): Can clinch the second spot with a road win at Canyon.

Pampa (6-3, 0-2): Will be the No. 4-seed.

District 2-4A Division II

Who’s in: Lubbock-Estacado, Seminole, Borger, Perryton.

Who’s out: Levelland

Lubbock Estacado (7-3, 4-0): Are the district champions for a third straight year after a 21-0 win against Levelland last week.

Seminole (4-5, 2-1): Are locked in at the No. 2 spot.

Borger (3-6, 1-3): Can clinch the No. 3-seed with a win at Perryton.

Perryton (2-7, 1-3): Can clinch the No. 3-seed with a home win against Borger.

District 2-3A Division I

Who’s in: Bushland, Muleshoe, River Road, Dalhart

Who’s out: Littlefield

Bushland (7-2, 4-0): Finished the season by earning its third straight district championship thanks to a 62-14 win against Littlefield last week.

Muleshoe (4-5, 2-1): Are locked in as the No. 2-seed.

River Road (5-4, 1-2): Can clinch the No. 3-seed with a road win at Dalhart.

Dalhart (2-7, 1-2): Can clinch the No. 3-seed with a home win against River Road.

District 3-3A Division II

Who’s in: Childress, Canadian, Friona

Who’s alive: Spearman, Tulia

Who’s out: Dimmitt, Highland Park

Childress (8-0, 5-0): Can wrap up an unbeaten season, as well as the district title with a victory at Canadian.

Canadian (7-2, 4-1): Can earn the No. 1-seed by beating Childress. If the Wildcats lose they could be either the second or fourth seed depending on the Tulia-Spearman winner.

Friona (7-2, 3-2): Will be the No. 2-seed with a Childress win and a Tulia win against Spearman. If Spearman wins, the Chieftains are in the third spot.

Tulia (6-3, 3-2): Are in the playoffs with a victory against Spearman. Can move as high as the 3-seed if Childress beats Canadian.

Spearman (5-4, 2-3): Are in the playoffs with a victory against Tulia.

District 1-2A Division I

Who’s in: Panhandle, Farwell, Sanford-Fritch, Olton

Who’s out: Boys Ranch, West Texas High

Panhandle (4-5, 4-0): Will be the outright district champion by beating Sanford-Fritch.

Farwell (7-2, 3-1): Will be the No. 2-seed with a win at Olton.

Sanford-Fritch (4-5, 3-1): Are most likely in third spot. However, if Fritch beats Panhandle, and Olton beats Farwell, the Eagles can move up.

Olton (6-3, 2-2): Are most likely the No. 4-seed unless the Mustangs beat Farwell.

District 2-2A Division II

Who’s in: New Home, Bovina, Sudan

Who’s alive: Ropes, Smyer

Who’s out: Nobody

New Home (6-3, 3-0): Can secure the outright district title by beating Sudan.

Bovina (4-6, 3-1): Are most likely the No. 2-seed unless Sudan beats New Home by more than six or less than nine points.

Sudan (2-7, 2-1): Are most likely the No. 3-seed, unless the Hornets beat New Home. Then it comes down to points on playoff positioning.

Ropes (5-3, 0-3): Are in the playoffs with a victory at Smyer.

Smyer (0-9, 0-3): Are in the playoffs with a home win against Ropes.

District 3-2A Division II

Who’s in: Stratford, Gruver, Vega, Sunray

Who’s out: Booker

Stratford (8-1, 3-0): Are the No. 1-seed, and will clinch the outright district championship by beating Booker.

Gruver (8-1, 3-1): Are locked in as the No. 2-seed.

Vega (7-2, 2-1): Can grab the third spot with a win at Sunray.

Sunray (4-5, 1-2): Are most likely the No. 4-seed unless the Bobcats can upset Vega.

District 4-2A Division II

Who’s in: Clarendon, Wellington, Shamrock, Wheeler

Who’s out: Memphis

Clarendon (8-1, 4-0): Can wrap up a district championship with a win at Shamrock.

Wellington (5-3, 2-1): Can lock up the second spot with a win against Wheeler, and a Clarendon win against Shamrock.

Shamrock (7-2, 2-1): Can be no lower than the No. 3-seed, but can move up if the Irish beat Clarendon.

Wheeler (4-5, 1-2): Are locked in at the fourth and final playoff spot.

District 1-1A Division I

Who’s In: Valley, Happy

Who’s Out: White Deer, McLean, Claude

Valley (6-3, 4-0): Are the district champions and top seed.

Happy (6-3, 2-1): Have secured the No. 2-seed in this district.

District 2-1A Division I

Who’s In: No one

Who’s Alive: Springlake-Earth, Nazareth, Kress

Who’s Out: Petersburg, Lorenzo

Springlake-Earth (7-1, 3-0): Are the top seed with a win against Kress.

Nazareth (6-3, 3-1): Will be the No. 2 seed with a Kress loss. A Kress victory by seven points or less leaves Nazareth out.

Kress (4-4, 2-1): In with a win over Springlake-Earth, or out with a loss.

District 1-1A Division II

Who’s In: No one

Who’s Alive: Follett, Miami, Hedley

Who’s Out: Lefors, Darrouzett

Follett (9-0, 3-0): Will capture the district championship and top seed with a win against Hedley.

Miami (4-5, 2-1): Will be the No. 2-seed with a Follet win.

Hedley (8-1, 2-1): Technically alive but needs a win against Follett by a large margin to have a chance.

District 2-1A Division II

Who’s In: Groom, Wildorado

Who’s Out: Silverton, Hart

Groom (6-3, 2-0): Will be the district champs with a home victory against Wildorado.

Wildorado (8-1, 2-0): Earns the top spot with a road win at Groom.
