The No. 11 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs swept their way to a 17th Lone Star Conference Tournament championship after knocking off Dallas Baptist in straight sets 25-17, 25-23, 25-18, on Saturday night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse.

The tournament title along with the regular season title proved just how dominant the Lady Buffs (27-4 overall) were running their win streak to 20 straight and never losing an LSC match all season.

WT now waits for their seedings in the South Central Regional Championships as they entered the weekend as the regions second seed. The No. 1-seed in the region will host the eight-team single elimination tournament set for Nov. 17-19.

“There isn’t any other place like playing at home in “The Box”,” WT head coach Kendra Potts said. “We have the best fans and community. I’m happy this team got to feel this moment and take it all in. I’m so proud of how we played this weekend.”

Torrey Miller was dominant for the Lady Buffs earning Tournament MVP honors. The LSC Offensive Player of the Year led WT with 11 kills on 25 attempts againt DBU and went over 1,500 kill mark in her career. Canyon graduate Bryli Contreras was superb with 13 digs to lead to the back row and LSC Defensive Player of the Year and Hereford graduate Taytum Stow produced four blocks.

“We’ve been scouting teams very seriously and this team has been dialed in,” Potts said. “I like how the business approach our team took during this tournament. I feel like this is a big confidence booster, but we’re not done. There is a lot of season left.”

WT moves to 53-11 overall during the LSC Tournament for an incredible winning percentage of 82.8. That’s the highest in LSC history
