Lubbock Coronado (3-6, 2-3) at Tascosa (8-1, 5-0), 7 p.m., Dick Bivins Stadium
Tascosa already owns the No. 1 seed in district and now has the chance to become the first Rebs team to win an outright district title since 1988. The only way Coronado can make the playoffs is beat Tascosa and see Caprock and Amarillo High lose. So these Mustangs will be a feisty bunch. Tascosa looked so good against Lubbock Cooper. I don’t see an upset here unless a rash of turnovers hit Tascosa. … Tascosa 35, Coronado 14

Amarillo High (4-5, 2-3) at Lubbock Monterey (0-9, 0-4), 7 p.m.
Amarillo High is in a crazy mess when it comes to playoff scenarios. It could win and still be out of the playoffs. But bottom line is this: if AHS beats Monterey then Coronado and Caprock lose, AHS is the No. 3 seed. Look it, AHS has been riding a roller-coaster of ups and downs all year. Boys Ranch (4-5, 0-3) at Booker (4-4, 0-3), 7 p.m.
Though both have struggled through district this game means everything. It’s simple. The winner goes to the playoffs and the winner puts on basketball sneakers. … Booker 26, Boys Ranch 21

Lefors (0-8, 0-3) at Darrouzett (1-7, 0-3), 7 p.m.

Lubbock Cooper (7-2, 4-1) at Caprock (5-4, 2-3), 7 p.m., Dick Bivins Stadium
Caprock is catching a ticked off Cooper team which saw its 25-game district winning streak end last week. But regardless if Cooper wins or loses it’s the No. 2 seed and hosts a playoff game next week. Caprock has everything to play for here. If the Rock wins and AHS and Coronado lose, Caprock is playoff bound as the No. 4 seed. Call me a homer all you want, but I see the upset here because Caprock can defend the run and Cooper has nothing to play for. … Caprock 17, Cooper 13

Palo Duro (2-7, 1-3) at Plainview (3-6, 1-3), 7 p.m., Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium
Oh my, a poem is reserved for the biggest of games; This one in is it, the winner puts playoffs by their names. The Dons played their best last week, coming up a tad short; Plainview is pretty good defending their home fort. Mims will have the Dons sky high for this one. So, chalk it up, PD’s bus ride back to Amarillo so fun. … Palo Duro 34, Plainview 25

Hereford (1-8, 1-2) at Dumas (5-4, 1-2), 7 p.m.
A week ago, no logical person would have thought this game would have any impact on the playoff picture, except maybe for seeding. Now, the winner will go to the postseason, no questions asked. Hereford carries the most momentum, as the Whitefaces shocked No. 1 seed Randall for their first win and stayed in the playoff picture. That should be a wake-up call to a Dumas team who lost a heartbreaker to Canyon. Playing their final home game, the Demons should see a sense of urgency kick in. Hereford is done with a loss. Experience will help Dumas a lot. … Dumas 41, Hereford 21

Canyon (8-1, 2-1) at Pampa (5-4, 1-2), 7 p.m.
Canyon clinched a playoff berth by beating Dumas on a last-second field goal last week and the Eagles will claim the No. 2 seed with a win. They may have to deal with a hangover against a Pampa team which has a smaller margin for error and will be eliminated with a loss and a Hereford win. This one might not take long since there should be a lot of running the ball, with freshman sensation Max Neff leading Pampa’s ground game, and Canyon likely preferring to run with a backup quarterback. A better defense gives the Eagles the edge. … Canyon 31, Pampa 21

District 2-4A Division II

Seminole (8-1, 3-0) at Perryton (3-6, 2-1), 7 p.m.
Both teams are headed to the playoffs in what could be seen as a district championship game, with the loser possibly slipping to a No. 3 seed. There’s potential for a lot of points here, and Perryton has improved offensively since the start of district play. The Rangers will also have emotion on their side for their final home game. But Seminole has been the class of the district from day one, and the Indians have been hard to stop. It should be an entertaining game, but Seminole has too much firepower. … Seminole 35, Perryton 24

Borger (2-7, 0-3) at West Plains (5-4, 2-1), 7 p.m.
West Plains is able to celebrate a playoff berth in its first year of existence and the Wolves will clinch the No. 2 seed with a win and will be no worse than the No. 3 seed. Borger is playing strictly for pride and to avoid a winless district season. West Plains may have to avoid a bit of rust after drawing the open week last week. The Wolves could face a challenge from the Bulldogs defensively, and it could be an entertaining offensive game. But it should be a happy ending to their first regular season. … West Plains 35, Borger 20

The Bobcats are starting to find themselves with the playoffs looming. The Chieftains are also playing good football. The winner gets the No. 2-seed outright. … Childress 37, Friona 22

Last year the Broncos made their way to Wellington and stunned the Skyrockets to take the district championship. Once again, this clash is for a district title with a great story behind it.
