The West Texas A&M volleyball team opened the season with an undefeated weekend earning four wins during the Britkare Lady Buff Classic at the WTAMU Field house on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, WT (4-0 overall) beat Adams State (25-15, 25-15, 18-25, 25-22), and Fort Lewis (25-14, 25-17, 25-11). The Lady Buffs folllowed those victories with two more Saturday, downing Southwestern Oklahoma State (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-22) before battling back to knock off Arkansas-Fort Smith (22-25, 25-7, 25-19, 25-23).

Torrey Miller was named the tournament MVP after leading the Lady Buffs offense with 61 kills on the weekend to average 4.07 per set.

Camy Jones and Kayla Elliot join Miller as All-Tournament selections, combining for 86 kills. Jones recorded a weekend-high eight services aces while Abi Nash and Blair Moreland each totaled six.

Two of the Texas Panhandle’s state-ranked volleyball teams continues their winning ways on Friday and Saturday.

The No. 2-ranked Hereford Lady Whitefaces won a pair of matches at a Levelland triangular Saturday. The Lady Whitefaces (27-2) overall swept Levelland 25-14, 25-7, 25-11. Hereford followed that win with another sweep of Monahans 25-14, 25-6, 25-12.

Senior middle blocker Taytum Stow combined for 24 kills and six blocks. Teammate Bonnie Vallejo made a total of 17 digs in both wins.

The No. 8-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons from Class 3A cruised past 6A Frenship at home Friday night thanks to a, 25-17, 25-23, 25-21, sweep.

Kaela Neie knocked down 14 kills, and Millie Maupin dished out 17 assists with 10 digs for a double-double.

Bushland improves to 17-3 overall.
