The speedy receiver had a tremendous outing against an outstanding Canyon defense in the Demon 23-9 key District 3-4A Division I win, snagging six catches for 131 yards with two touchdowns.

Edgar Salazar, Canadian, Sr. K

The senior was on point going 10-for-10 on extra points during Canadian’s 70-0 beating of Tulia

On the season, Salazar is kicking extra points at a 94 percent clip (62-of-66). What’s astonishing about the senior is over his four years he’s quietly made 293 extra points which puts him only 11 extra-points away in the state record books behind leader Chance Nevarez from Aledo (2010-2013) who nailed 304 extra point attempts.

Sam Anguiano, Pampa, Jr. QB

The backup quarterback filled in nicely for injured starter Jack Studebaker during Pampa’s 49-10 rout of Hereford. Anguiano completed 15-of-22 passes for 202 yards with two touchdown passes, while adding 77 yards rushing and a score.

Erik Gray, Amarillo High, Jr. OL-DL

The 6-foot-2, 270 physical lineman played the majority of the game both ways for Amarillo High in a 24-7 district victory against Lubbock Monterey. Gray did his job protecting QB Brock Wade on offense, followed by making seven tackles, one for a loss, and a sack on defense.

Ryan Grawunder, Vega, Jr. QB

The dual-threat QB helped lead Vega to its first win agaisnt Stratford since 1959. During the thrilling 48-42 double overtime classic, Grawunder scored on a 1-yard plunge in the second OT that gave the Longhorns the W. He ended his night competing 12-of-20 passes for 216 yards, added 80 yards rushing for a combined six touchdowns. On defense, Grawunder made four tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble.

Jayse Edwards, Panhandle, Sr. FB-LB

The Panthers two-way standout helped flip momentum as Panhandle pulled away from Farwell, 56-21, in a key district showdown Friday. In the third quarter alone Edwards scored two touchdowns, and returned a fumble 40 yards fumble for another score. Edwards ended the game with 53 yards on nine carries, and made 14 tackles with a sack.

Xavier Hammett, Dalhart, Sr. WR

The Golden Wolves receiver had a career outing during Dalhart’s 42-21 win against Muleshoe. The senior was a mismatch for the Mules secondary, scoring on pass plays of, 64, 52 and 42 yards. Hammett ended the game with 11 catches for 194 yards

David Rascon, Wheeler, Sr. RB

The senior led a dominating ground attack that kept the Mustangs unbeaten in District 4-2A Division II, taking down Clarendon 27-16. Rascon came 1-yard short of 200 yards, rushing for 199 yards 22 totes with two touchdowns.

Sean Wright, Shamrock, Jr. RB

The Shamrock Irish snapped a four-game losing skid and clinched a Class 2A Division II playoff spot in the process with a 36-0 shutout of Memphis. Wright was the key competent in the victory piling up 161 rushing yards with three touchdowns on only 12 carries.

Kobe Cunningham, Sanford-Fritch, Sr. RB-DB

The Eagles soared to their first win of the year by blanking Boys Ranch 50-0. Cunningham did everything in his power to make it happen grinding out 228 yards on the ground with three touchdowns, hauling in two catches for 80 yards with two more scores, then adding an interception on defense.
