Jay Defoor, Canyon, Sr. QB

The Canyon signal caller was consistent in leading his Eagles to a 35-7 win against Decatur. Defoor, who’s Canyon team is headed to the state quarterfinal for the first time since 2013, completed 15-of-23 passes 205 yards with two passing touchdowns, and running for a TD on a bootleg.

Erik Gray, Amarillo High, Jr. OL-DL

The 6-foot-4, 285 pound road grader made a splash on social media during the Sandies thumping of Lubbock High. Gray took a hook-and-ladder right before the half and rumbled down the sideline 74 yards, showing excellent speed for a touchdown. On top of that impressive play, Gray played over 70 snaps combined on both sides of the ball, making three tackles for a loss on defense.

Wellington earned a 40-20 regional semifinal win against Vega but it didn’t come easy.

The No. 3-Skyrockets had to do it without starting quarterback Creighton Killian, who got knocked out of the contest in the second quarter, and would not return. Behind the rotating offensive line of — Jayden Castillo, Sammy McLain, Jordan Nation, Blake Strickland, Rey Ramirez, Antonio Rodriguez, Gavin Wood, Willy Olvera — Wellington was able to chew up 304 of its 333 yards on the ground.

Collin Bishop, Childress, Jr. QB

For a second straight week the Childress captain put the game in his hands. Bishop scored two fourth quarter touchdowns that helped the Bobcats knock off rival Spearman, 27-21, avenging a Week 5 overtime loss. Bishop finished the game

with 33 carries rushing for 139 yards with the pair of TDs.

Gunner Lamb, Groom, Sr. QB

Lamb used to known as a QB that was quick to run, but has now established himself as one of the better pocket passers in the state at the Six-man level. During a mercy-rule win against Follett on Friday, Lamb proved how good he could be from the pocket going 18-of-21 for 430 yards and nine touchdown passes.

Hayze Hufstedler, Canadian, Sr. RB

Canadian’s talented tailback was barely touched during the No. 1 Wildcats 56-6 rout of No. 7 Idalou in the Class 3A Division II regional semifinal. Hufstedler carried the ball 13 times for 189 yards with scores of 73, 24 and four yards.

Jack McKay, Canyon, Sr. WR

The 6-foot-3 senior was Defoor’s main target in the victory against Decatur. Time and time again, McKay came down with key catches making a total of seven snags for 121 yards with a touchdown.

Stephen Kuehler, Groom, So. WR

Lamb wasn’t the only Tiger having all the fun during Groom’s big win against Follett. The sophomore wide out found open space the entire night to snag six catches for 205 yards with five touchdowns.

Stetson Jameson, Happy, Sr. RB

Jameson played did all he could despite the Cowboys season-ending loss to Borden County. Playing his final game in a Cowboy uniform, the senior speedster with an outstanding burst carried it 22 times, chewing up 174 yards with a score. He also threw for 96 yards with a TD.

Jameson ends a spectacular season where he rushed for 2,548 yards in 13 games with 55 rushing touchdowns.

Spencer Williams, Dumas, Sr. QB

The three-year starting QB played his final game in a Dumas uniform Thursday falling to Springtown. In the loss, Williams played superb throwing for 234 yards with two touchdown tosses. Williams started all 13 games for Dumas this year throwing for 2,388 yards with 27 touchdowns, and ran for 660 yards adding nine more TDs.
