The Jayton Gridiron Classic is a must watch

The Jayton Gridiron Classic has turned into the go-to kickoff classics for Class 1A schools. The showcase features some of the best teams in Six-man, showcasing nine games from Thursday to Saturday night. Any football fan that has yet to attend needs to add that as a must for the future.

The Texas Panhandle will make a return trip to Jerry World

Last year the Amarillo-area sent both McLean (Division I) and Follett (Division II) to Arlington. This season, there are plenty of talented teams across the board, so don’t be surprised if the Texas Panhandle makes a return trip.

McLean makes it 16 straight

The defending Six-man Division I state champions opened the 2019 season how theu closed 2018. The No. 2-ranked ranked Tigers beat up No. 10 Blum, 65-38, extending their win streak to 16 straight dating back to last year. McLean will try to extend its winning streak to 17 against at Groom on Friday.

4. District 1-1A D1 is legit

McLean, White Deer, Valley and Miami, went a combined 4-0 over the weekend. What’s more impressive is the Tigers, Bucks and Patriots outscored their opponents in Jayton by a combined 187-60. The Warriors also rolled Hedley, 54-6.

5. Welcome back Parker Carson

The senior QB for the Valley Patriots missed the final five games of last year after sustaining an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season. In his first game back for the Patriots on Saturday, Carson put up four touchdowns through the air and another two on the ground in a 50-0 win over Morton. Expect a big season from Carson and the Patriots.

6. Claude making strides

The Mustangs are now in their second season of Six-man and have already opened some eyes. Claude traveled to Follett Friday night and earned a 56-6 win over a team that was four quarters from a state title in December. This is a great start for a Claude team hungry for success.
