Randall clinches playoff berth; AHS sweeps season series from rival Tascosa, Miami stays hot

The Randall Lady Raiders are postseason bound once again.

Randall officially clinched a Class 5A playoff spot for a 24th consecutive season with a three-set sweep of Caprock 25-15, 25-17, 25-12, on Saturday afternoon at the Caprock Activity Center.

The Lady Raiders (24-13 overall) are now 6-1 in District 3-5A sitting a game back of first place Amarillo High.

Speaking of Amarillo High, the Lady Sandies completed the season sweep of rival Tascosa thanks to a convincing, 25-12, 25-14, 25-10, sweep of the rival Lady Rebels at home.

The Lady Sandies were stellar offensively with a .432 hitting percentage in the lopsided win.

Fresh off making school history by becoming the programs single-season kills leader Tuesday, Currie Marusak capped off a thrilling week knocking down 10 kills with six blocks. Setter Jo Moffitt dished out 25 assists.

Saturday’s highlights

The Miami Lady Warriors gave themselves some breathing room in the District 4-1A standings downing Wildorado for the second time this season.

Miami took care of business on the road sweeping the Lady Mustangs 25-14, 25-22, 25-16, staying unbeaten in district at 6-0, while improving to 25-7 overall.

Cheyenne DeMerritt had 15 digs with 12 kills for a double-double. Standout setter Haley Hurst finished with 31. assists. Wildorado falls to 25-13, 4-2.

Bushland pushed its district win streak to 74 straight getting by Dalhart 23-25, 25-11, 25-10, 25-14.

Senior standout Jaycee Adams hit the floor for 15 digs, and had an eye-opening seven aces.

Despite the loss, Dalhart senior Rhiana Todd did all she could with 20 digs and 12 kills for a double-double. Todd also added two blocks with an ace.

The No. 8-ranked Lady Falcons finish the first half of District 1-3A at 3-0, and are 28-4 overall.

Dalhart falls to 14-17, 1-2.
