Q&A with Nazareth’s Nathaneal Van Dijk

Nathaneal Van Dijk returns as the leader of the Nazareth Swifts. Last season, the 6-foot-4, 215 pound explosive two-way star led led the Nazareth to its first district title since the Swifts made the move to Class 1A, or better known as Six-Man in 2012. Van Dijk is a do it all back that logged over 700 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving in 2018. After a first round exit in last years playoffs, Van Dijk wants to help his team do even more in 2019.

Van Dijk took time out his schedule to speak with Press Pass Sports about the upcoming season.

How does it feel to finally be a senior?

“I don’t feel much of a difference if I’m telling the truth. It Just feels like another year of football. I know this is my last year but I don’t really think about that I just do what I can.”

Where do you want to grow your game this season?

“Hopefully I have improved from last season, but I think that you can expect more of the same. I want to grow this season in my physicality aspect. I feel like last year I was weak. So, hopefully I can benefit my team and myself by becoming more physical.”

What are your expectations for the team this year?

“I expect us to go as far. I also expect us to work as hard as we can. I expect us to win district and then see what happens from there.”

Which games are you looking forward to the most?

“Of course Happy. Just because it’s always been a rivalry between us in every sports. Ropes is another that I look forward to, because it is always an intense game between when we meet up.”

During pregame, what kind of music do you listen to that gets you pumped up?

“There really isn’t just one thing that I go to to get pumped up. I’d say just whatever I am feeling that night. I don’t know until I hear it really.”
