Amarillo High impresses

Behind balanced scoring and excellent perimeter shooting, the Amarillo High Sandies dismantled Bell Street rival Randall 74-50 to remain perfect in District 3-5A at 5-0, improving to 15-8 overall.

AHS knocked down 13, 3-pointers in the victory, while placing four players in double-digits. Slade Simpson and Chris Dees led all scorers with 16 points each.

Solid nondistrict action

With a light night of district play, the Texas Panhandle saw some solid games in the nondistrict realm. Stratford edged a very good Panhandle team, 47-46, in the closing seconds, Tascosa picked up a nice road win at Lubbock Trinity, 65-48, and Childress stayed hot by downing Perryton, 51-41.


Tuesday’s top performer’s

Palo Duro’s Jelani Mohamed poured in 26 points leading the Dons to a lopsided win against Lubbock High, 68-34.

Gavin Boydston of Fort Elliott had a game-high 28 points as the Cougars topped Miami 60-42 in a District 1-1A tilt.

During Stratford’s thrilling 47-46 nondistict victory against Panhandle, senior Ty McBryde did his part for the Elks by scoring a game-high 18 points.
