H.S. Volleyball roundup: Bushland dismantles River Road; Hereford clinches share of district crown

The No. 3-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons stayed perfect in district play by dismantling River Road in 25-12, 25-0, 25-14 sweep on Saturday afternoon at the Wildcats Gym.

Bushland held the Wildcats scoreless in the second set, something that’s extremely rare in today’s point volleyball scoring.

The Lady Falcons are now 22-2 overall and 4-0 in District 1-3A. River Road drops to 3-18, 0-4.

Bushland’s Hallie Conklin served up a team-high 14 aces in the match. Kinley Rudder powered down eight kills, and Taryn Schultz dished out 14 assists.

Notes

Hereford clinched a share of the District 4-4A title with a sweep against Pampa, 25-10, 25-13, 25-12.

Nickilah Whatley knocked down a game-high 14 kills to go with three blocks. Teammate Rainey Aven had 29 assists, and Miranda Acosta hit the floor for 14 digs.

Amarillo High hit the midway point of District 3-5A winning its 11th straight match beating Caprock 25-10, 25-15, 25-15. The Lady Sandies are hot sitting at 11-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in district. AHS has yet to drop a set through its five district matches. Junior hitter Currie Marusak continued her stellar play with 18 kills.

Tascosa, Palo Duro and Caprock will have makeup games coming up this week. For fans interested to see when and where those will be check out the schedule in Monday’s standings.
