On the field: Bishop has shown the results which come with being one of the most experienced returning quarterbacks in the area this season. In last week’s 30-28 win over an excellent Shallowater team, Bishop, who became the starting quarterback as a sophomore had perhaps the best pure passing performance in the area this season, completing 24-of-35 passes for 468 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bobcats to victory. He was especially effective in getting the ball to Lamont Nickelberry, who had nine catches for 219 yards and three touchdowns. As a result, Childress stayed undefeated on the season at 3-0, and the Bobcats open District 3-3A Division II play Friday with a much anticipated game at home against Spearman.

Coach Jason Sims: “I think Collin is playing really good football right now. He’s seeing the field and improved his arm from last year. He can make all the throws. He had a great night. He made plays with his arm all night and made some plays with his feet. I expected a lot of Collin but Collin has also surprised me on a few things this year with how poised he is and how much of a command he has of the offense. He’s just a really competitive kid.”

Bishop: “The keys to success was that I had No. 14 (Nickelberry) and 40 (Avery Jalamo) on the field and they made it easy for me by making some amazing catches. The game plan we went into Shallowater with was great and we just executed it. After the game we got emotional over going in there and winning the game like that. I just trusted my teammates as best as I could have. I would definitely say that this was the best game I’ve had personally. They were a very tough opponent playing in a playoff atmosphere.”
