Dumas claims district crown

The Dumas Demons brought home a fourth straight district championship and a third straight District 3-4A Division I title knocking off Pampa 28-9 at Demons Stadium on Friday night.

Dumas (9-1, 3-0) extends its home win streak to 14 straight in the process, while moving to 9-0 since this district was put together three years ago.

The Demons now sets their focus on a Class 4A Division I bidistrict meeting with Lake Worth (6-4) at 7 p.m. Friday on Leo Brittain Field at Lions Stadium in Vernon.

Pampa (8-2, 2-1) takes third out of the district and will play Decatur (5-5) in a bidistrict contest at 7 p.m. Friday in Snyder.

Dumas never trailed against Harvesters on Friday jumping out to a 14-3 halftime lead. Quarterback Spencer williams threw for 113 yards and a score. Defensively, the Demons forced three interceptions by backup quarterback Sam Anguiano, two of which were picked by Christian Carrera. Teammate and senior linebacker Dallan Dill finished with a game-high 11.5 tackles, eight were solo, and a sack.

Canyon shuts down Hereford

Canyon bounced back from its first loss of the season in fine fashion blanking Hereford 53-0 on Friday night at Whiteface Stadium.

The Eagles end the year at 8-1 overall and 2-1 in District 3-4A Division I. Canyon now moves on to play a Class 4A Division I bidistrict game at Wichita Falls Hirschi at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

Hereford (3-6, 0-3) will be the No. 4-seed out of the district and will play Springtown (8-2) in bidistrict at 7 p.m. Thursday in Snyder.

Canyon dominated both sides of the ball against Hereford. Quarterback Jay Defoor was back to form going 12-of-17 throwing for 279 yards with four touchdowns. Jack McKay was the main target for Defoor catching five passes for 164 yards with three TDs. The stifling Eagles defense limited Hereford to 136 total yards.

District 4-4A Division II

Perryton wins defensive battle at Borger

Perryton and Borger played scoreless football for 47:20 seconds on Friday night until Rangers kicker Tony Cervantes knocked through a 47-yard field goal for the games only points, and a Perryton 3-0 win Friday night at Bulldogs Stadium.

After Cervantes 47-yard thrilling kick that finally broke the scoreless tie, Borger had once last drive to either tie or win the game. But when trying to move down the field a Bulldogs pass was intercepted by Perryton defender Pablo Perez that iced the victory for the Rangers. Perryton (4-5 overall) earned a share of the District 2-4A Division II crown with Lubbock Estacado, but will be the No. 2-seed in the Class 4A Division II playoffs. The Rangers will open the postseason with a bidistrict home contest against Monahans at 7 p.m. Friday at Rangers Stadium. The heartbreaking loss saw Borger ends its year at 1-9 overall.

Fans that liked defense had to love Friday’s Perryton’s-Borger clash. Perryton totaled 125 yards of offense to the Bulldogs 89.

District 3-5A Division II

Randall thumps Plainview

Randall put it all together during a 48-6 thumping of Plainview in a District 3-5A Division II matchup at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldogs Stadium on Friday.

The Raiders keep their playoff hopes in tact with the win moving to 1-2 in district and 3-4 overall. Plainview falls to 2-4, 0-2.

Randall racked up 406 yards of offense in the victory with 341 yards coming on the ground. Quarterback Braxton Burd had a huge night rushing for 130 yards on 16 carries with three rushing scores, and completed 7-of-8 passes for 65 yards and two more TDs.
