Uwajeneza wins individual title

Florance Uwajeneza won the individual title as the Lady Buffs cross country team finished fourth at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday morning in Joplin, MO.

The St. Paul, Minn., product improved to a perfect 5-for-5 on the cross country course. The junior used a strong final mile to cross the finish in 16:43.52 seconds.

On the men’s side, WT sent just three runners to the event highlighted by Noah Bundrock in 28th with a time of 25:27.77.

Lady Buff volleyball split LSC road trip

The Lady Buffs opened up Lone Star Conference action on the road this past weekend falling to No. 25 UT Tyler in four sets on Friday night before bouncing back with a sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday.

The Lady Buffs are 7-2 overall, and now 1-1 in conference play. Hereford graduate Chandler Vogel moved into second on WT’s all-time digs list on Friday night as the senior now sits just 151 digs behind fellow Hereford native Lauren Beville on the career list.

The Lady Buffs return to BritKare Court at The Box this weekend with matches against UT Permian Basin on Friday and Western New Mexico on Saturday.

Buff soccer stays hot

The No. 11 West Texas A&M men’s soccer team remained unbeaten this past week going on the road and taking a thrilling overtime win at Southern Nazarene in the final two seconds on a goal by Giancarlo Saldana.

WT returned home on Saturday hosting Alumni Weekend, handing Northwest Nazarene a 2-1 defeat with a pair of Saldana goals.

WT (4-0) heads to Wichita Falls on Wednesday night to face off with rival No. 18 Midwestern State with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Stang Park.

Lady Buff soccer wins again

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs ran their win streak to three this past weekend using a 65th minute free kick goal by Albuquerque, N.M., product Emily Avila to top Southwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at The Pitch in Canyon.

The Lady Buffs improve to 4-1 overall.

WT hits the road on Wednesday to take on UT Permian Basin with kickoff set for 5 p.m. in Odessa.

WT men’s golf is underway

The West Texas A&M men’s golf squad opened their fall schedule at The Writz at Mile High in Lakewood, Colo., this past Monday and Tuesday.

WT finished the event with a 907 (+43) to finish ninth as the Buffs improved their final round score (293) by 10-strokes over round two (303) and 18-strokes over their opening round (311). Daniel Unger and Pablo Rebolleda combined for six birdies to each shoot -1 (71) in the final round and finish tied for 19th.

Lady Buff golf set to open fall schedule

The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs and head coach Meredith James start their fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday in Denton to take part in the DBU Women’s Classic hosted by defending National Champion Dallas Baptist at Robson Ranch Golf Club.

The 18-school event includes 10 ranked programs in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Top 25.
