Canadian keeps rolling

The No. 6-ranked Canadian Lady Cats made an impressive statement on the road Tuesday night by downing rival Spearman in convincing fashion 53-32 in a battle for District 1-3A supremacy.

Canadian now stands all alone in first place at the halfway point of the district race at 5-0 in the league race, and 18-2 overall. The Lynxettes suffer their first district loss falling to 4-1 and 12-6 overall.

The Lady Cats broke the game wide open in the third quarter. Leading 27-18 at the half, Canadian pulled away with a stellar third outscoring Spearman 18-4 to take a commanding 45-22 lead into the fourth. Mattie Boyd and Briley Merket did the damage combining for 40 points. Boyd poured in a game-high 21, followed by Merket’s 19.


Foster hits milestone

Childress senior and Lubbock Christian signee Grace Foster earned a special milestone during the Lady Bobcats 69-27 district win against Tulia on Tuesday.

Foster racked up 12 points in Tuesday’s victory giving the four-year starter 2,000 points for her stellar career at Childress.


Tuesday’s top performers

Farwell’s Presley Agee put up 35 points and nabbed 12 rebounds in an 82-20 win against Bovina. The senior is also closing in on 2,000 career points sitting at 1,998.


Kyla Kane of Wellington tallied 27 points to lead the Lady Skyrockets past Wheeler, 61-17.

Shamrock’s Kynnan Shields scored a game-high 32 points that helped the Lady Irish over Memphis 68-43.
