Palo Duro is red hot

The Palo Duro Dons kept their winning ways going by pulling away from District 3-5A rival Tascosa for a 70-57 win on Friday night.

The game was tied, 20-20, before the Dons picked up the pace in the second half by outscoring the Rebels 42-29.

Palo Duro (19-3) remains tied with Amarillo High at 3-0 in the district standings. The Dons and Sandies will battle for first place supremacy on Tuesday. Palo Duro guard Audi Luckey kept up his hot hand pouring in 20 points, followed by Kadden Price with 17.

Overtime took center stage

Four games across the Texas Panhandle went into overtime Friday night.

Plainview outscored Randall 14-0 in the extra frame to get past the Raiders 51-37.

Childress survived Tulia with a 67-66 victory. Stratford blanked Sanford-Fritch in its extra quarter for a 54-47 win, and McLean downed Fort Elliott 71-64 in OT.

Friday’s top performers

Childress guard Lamont Nickelberry racked up 28 points in the Bobcats OT win over Tulia.

Carson Carter of McLean poured in a career-high 33 points to lift the Tigers past Fort Elliott in overtime.

Johnny Reynaga of Dumas scored 24 points that led the Demons on a huge second half surge to beat Borger 77-65.
