15 high school volleyball players to watch in 2020

Taytum Stowe, Hereford, Jr. 6-foot-3, MB

Stowe was tremendous during her sophomore season. The 6-foot-3 force helped lead Hereford to a 35-15 record, and the first UIL state tournament appearance since 2009. Stowe was a District 3-4A Co-Offensive Player of the Year and All-State selection, dominating the net with 485 kills to go with 155 blocks.

Kinley Rudder, Bushland, Sr. 6-1, OH

The reigning Class 3A All-State selection is back for her senior season and primed to lead the Lady Falcons back to the state tournament. The reigning District 1-3A Outstanding Hitter of the Year earned 246 kills and 52 aces.

Kiar Parker, Randall, Sr. 6-0, RS

Parker’s role significantly changes after the departure of a talented senior class last season. The Lady Raiders will look to Parker as a leader after a superb junior season. The first-team District 3-5A selection tallied 265 kills, 51 blocks with 33 digs.

Zoey Sparks, Canyon, Sr. 6-3, MB

The 6-foot-3 middle blocker earned District –

3-4A Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors thanks to her aggressive style of play. The Southwest Oklahoma State committ ended a stellar 2019 campaign with 367 kills, 29 aces, 104 blocks, and 54 digs.

Ashlyn Vinyard, Amarillo High, Sr. 5-11, opposite

The West Texas A&M commit is now a senior leader for the tradition-rich Lady Sandies program. Last season, Vinyard earned second-team District 3-5A honors by knocking down 244 kills, with 88 digs, and 18 aces.

Nevaeh Rodriquez, Highland Park, Jr. 5-9, OH

Without her sister Cynarah by her side, Rodriguez’s leadership role becomes that much more important. The District 4-2A Offensive MVP was also a Class 2A All-State selection last year as a sophomore pounding down 424 kills, racking up 303 digs with 72 aces.

Bebe Irwin, Tascosa, Jr. 5-11, MB

Irwin had a breakout sophomore season for the Lady Rebels. Irwin, the District 2-6A Newcomer of the Year, will look to improve on a 2019 that saw her have 255 kills, 66 blocks and 41 digs.

Currie Marusek, Amarillo High, Jr. 5-11, OH

Through her first two season on varsity the highly-talented Marusak only continues to thrive. The 5-foot-9 outside hitter his hoping to capitalize on a sophomore campaign that saw her rack up 287 kills, with 60 digs.

Taryn Schultz, Bushland, Sr. 5-10, S

Schultz will fill the full-time role at setter this season for coach Jason Culpepper after splitting time with Ansley Sims the past two years. Schultz, the District 1-3A Setter of the Year, had her hand in on 1,016 assists, 142 digs, and 71 aces last year.

Rainey Aven, Hereford, Sr. 5-9, S

Aven is a key cog this year for the Lady Whitefaces. The reigning District 3-4A Setter of the Year will be the main assist machine to Taytum Stow. Last year Aven totaled 1,072 assists, with 248 kills.

Hallie Sieck, Pampa, Sr. 5-3, S

Sieck has been a mainstay on the Lady Harvesters roster since her freshman season. The heart and soul of Pampa’s team showed she’s one of the top setters in the Texas Panhandle with 1,035 assists, 263 digs, and 76 aces last season. For her effort, Sieck was named Co-Setters of the Year in District 4-4A.

Brenley Rodriquez, Dumas, Jr. 6-0, MB-S

The Demonette junior earned second-team All-District honors during a breakout 2019. Rodriguez, who helped lead Dumas to the third round of the Class 4A playoffs, tallied 281 kills, 125 digs, 63 blocks with 41 aces.

Aubrianna Hernandez, Caprock, Sr. 5-5, S

If Caprock wants make the playoffs for the first time in over 30 years they’ll need a strong year from the backbone of their team in Hernandez. The senior leader racked up 861 assists last season with 121 digs, adding 47 aces.

Delanie Patterson, Randall, Sr. 5-11, MB

Randall coach Haleigh Burns has much expectation for the senior middle blocker. With a lot of new pieces on the floor Patterson is expected to step up. Last season Patterson knocked down 65 kills, and made 20 blocks last year.

Raylee Bain, Canyon, OH, 5’9, SR

Bain will compliment teammate Zoey Sparks as the Lady Eagles top hitter on the outside. Bain is hoping to improve on a junior year that saw her make 252 kills with 48 digs.
