Lubbock-Cooper holds off Bushland; Hereford impresses against Tascosa, Wildorado wins

For the first time this year Hereford finally played a home game in front of its fans, and the Lady Whitefaces didn’t disappoint.

In front of a packed house, Hereford played strong volleyball earning a sweep of Tascosa in a non-district match, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19, on Tuesday night.

Hereford improves to an eye-opening 30-2 overall, becoming the first Texas Panhandle volleyball program to 30 wins this season.

Standout middle blocker Taytum Stow was her typical force knocking down 15 kills, adding an ace. Bonnie Vallejo also had 15 kills to go with eight digs, while London Baker and Micah Palacios combined for 44 assists.

Tascosa setter Abrey Galt finished with 28 assists, three aces and eight digs.

The Lady Rebels fall to 19-10.

Another very good non-district matchup took place in Bushland on Tuesday. The Class 5A Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates fought hard to hold off No. 8-ranked Bushland from Class 3A coming away with a 20-25, 29-27, 25-22, 26-24 victory. Cooper dropped the first set before taking the next three. Dalhart graduate and Cooper head coach Karli Morrison also earned a win against her mentor Jason Culpepper. Culpepper coached Morrison at Dalhart.

Hope Douglass led the Lady Pirates (23-10) with 24 kills and three aces. Sydney Payton made 21 digs

Bushland’s Emma Troxell had a team-high 10 kills with two blocks. Jaycee Adams hit the floor for 20 digs, and Logan Culpepper and Millie Maupin combined for 32 assists.

The Lady Falcons are now 18-4 on the year.

Last but not least, Wildorado from Class 1A jumped up and swept 3A Friona in sweeping fashion, 25-10 25-12 25-17.

Makenna Byrd led the Lady Mustangs with seven kills. Teammate Kyndall Ragland added 10 digs, six kills, and three blocks.

Wildorado improves to 19-10 overall.
