Lady Sandies sweep Plainview; Randall takes out Palo Duro, Hereford rolls on

Amarillo High and Randall both took care of business Saturday not overlooking its opponents before a key first showdown of the Battle of Bell Street at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Randall High School.

The Lady Sandies, the reigning District 3-5A champions, handled Plainview in sweeping fashion with a 25-10, 25-16, 25-16, victory at the AHS Activity Center.

AHS stays hot moving to 25-11 overall, and 3-0 in district play.

Setter Jo Moffitt did a little bit of everything dishing out 25 assists, getting three digs with two blocks. Currie Marusak added 10 kills and a pair of aces.

Randall kept pace with Amarillo High for a share of the district lead handling Palo Duro by a Palo Duro 25-9, 25-16, 25-5, count Friday at the PD Activity Center.

The Lady Raiders remain perfect at 3-0 in league action, and are now 20-12 overall.

Senior leader Paris Patterson knocked down nine kills, made nine digs, and added three blocks with three aces in the victory.

Tascosa snapped a frustrating seven-game losing skid Saturday sweeping Caprock 25-14, 25-10, 25-16.

Abrey Galt was the story for the Lady Rebels, who improve to 20-13, 1-2. Galt racked up a double-double thanks to 23 assists, and 13 kills, chipping in a pair blocks and a pair of aces.

District 4-4A

There weren’t any suprises in District 4-4A on Saturday as the top teams took care of business.

Hereford continues to prove itself as the measuring stick of the league through the early going. The Lady Whitefaces got an early test in the first set from Pampa, but turned it on later in the match for a 25-21, 25-8, 25-9, sweep at the McNeely Field House in Pampa.

Taytum Stow dominated at the net with 15 kills and three blocks. Camryn Blair added 14 kills, and Miranda Acosta tallied 18 digs.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Whitefaces are an eye-opening 35-2 overall, and 3-0 in district play.

Dumas and Canyon each kept pace one-game back of Hereford in the standings. Dumas swept Perryton 25-16, 25-7, 25-7, while Canyon soared past Borger, 26-6, 25-27, 19-25, 25-18.

The Demonettes were led by Brenley Rodriguez’s 11 kills and eight digs. The Lady Eagles saw freshman Sydney Winfrey knock down 15 kills, and Ryne Roden set 28 assists.
