How it happened in Girls District Basketball on Feb 8

There was much on the line for Girls High School Basketball teams on the final night of the regular season. Here’s how the scenarios played out within the Texas Panhandle districts.

District 3-5A

Randall clinched the No. 2-seed out of District 3-5A by defeating Plainview 80-64.

Tascosa grabbed the fourth and final playoff spot out of the district downing Palo Duro 74-47.

District 4-4A

Despite tying with 6-4 district records, Hereford will be the No. 2-seed, and Dumas will get third spot due to the Lady Whitefaces earning the season sweep.

Even with a loss a 75-21 loss at Canyon, Pampa nabbed the fourth and final playoff spot out of district thanks to Hereford beating Perryton 50-45. Pampa, which won only one game a year ago, had quite the turnaround with 18 wins in the regular season.

District 1-3A

Dalhart claimed the fourth and final playoff spot out of the district by beating Highland Park 44-38.

District 2-3A

Abernathy knocked off Childress 41-37 to pull into a third place tie. The two teams will have a seeding game on Friday in Floydada at a time to be determined.

District 3-3A

Littlefield beat Muleshoe 36-30 to tie for the second place spot in the district. The two teams will have a seeding game at 5 p.m. Friday in Muleshoe.

District 1-2A

West Texas High held off Sanford-Fritch 36-34 in a play-in game Monday night. With the victory the Lady Comanches nab the fourth and final playoff spot.

District 2-2A

Memphis and Wheeler tied at 3-7 overall in the district, and will now have a play-in game for the fourth and final spot at 8 p.m. Friday in Shamrock.

District 3-2A

Despite a 73-35 loss to Farwell, Bovina still grabbed the fourth spot out of district thanks to a Boys Ranch loss to Olton.

District 1-1A

Miami won the district championship and will be the No. 1-seed by downing Follett 50-37. Follett is the No. 2-seed.

McLean will be the third-seed after defeating 42-19. Fort Elliott takes the fourth and final spot.

District 2-1A

Valley won the outright district championship by defeating Silverton 46-21. Claude will be the No. 2-seed, Silverton the No. 3-seed, and White Deer claims the fourth spot.

District 3-1A

Nazareth beat Happy 46-30 to earn the district title, as Happy will be the No. 2-seed.

Wildorado and Hartley finished tied for third, and will have a seeding game at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Adrian.
