How it happened in Boys District Basketball on Feb 15

There was much on the line for Boys High School Basketball teams on the final night of the regular season. Here’s how the scenarios played out within the Texas Panhandle districts.

District 3-5A

Randall and Plainview are headed for a play-in game for the fourth and final playoff spot out of the district. The Bulldogs upset Palo Duro 60-48 on Tuesday night, while Randall pulled away from Caprock 74-64. Both teams end league play at 4-6 overall. The play-in game is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday night in Dimmitt.

District 4-4A

Hereford and Borger both won Tuesday night to tie for third place in district at 5-5. Hereford downed Dumas 75-54, and the Bulldogs dismantled Pampa 68-48. Hereford and Borger will have a third place seeding matchup at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Palo Duro High School Activity Center

District 1-3A

Bushland claimed the outright district title and will be the No. 1-sees by defeating Dalhart 51-26. Spearman finished second, followed by River Road in third.

Canadian knocked off Highland Park on Monday 70-36. Thanks to that victory, and two wins against Dalhart the Wildcats clinch the fourth and final spot over the Golden Wolves.

District 2-3A

Tulia defeated Childress with a thrilling 44-43 victory on the road Tuesday. Thanks to that win and an Idalou victory over Abernathy 81-65, Tulia and Abernathy had to flip for the second. The Antelopes won the flip to get the second spot. Tulia is third, and Childress will be the No. 4-seed.

District 3-3A

Dimmitt beat Brownfield in a close contest 57-53 to claim the outright district crown Tuesday night to finish 8-3 in the league.

Littlefield made things more interesting when the Wildcats knocked off Denver City 42-37 on Tuesday, putting Denver City, Lamesa, and Brownfield in a second place tie at 7-4. The three teams will flip for seeding Thursday morning.

District 2-2A

Panhandle took down Shamrock 46-36 to become the No. 3-seed out of the district. The Irish will be the No. 4-seed.

District 3-2A

Vega upset Farwell 66-61 to pull into a second place tie at 5-3 in the district standings. Vega won the flip, and will be the No. 2-seed. Farwell will be the No. 3-seed.

Bovina and Boys Ranch are having a play-in game for the fourth and final playoff spot at 6 p.m. Friday at Boys Ranch.

District 1-1A

Booker won the district championship and will be the No. 1-seed by downing Follett 43-35. Follett is the No. 2-seed.

Fort Elliott beat McLean 49-46 to force a rematch for the fourth and final postseason berth. The two teams will have a play-in game at 6 p.m. Friday in Wheeler.

District 2-1A

Valley won the outright district championship by defeating Hedley 60-37. Hedley will be the No. 2-seed, Silverton the No. 3-seed, and Groom takes the fourth spot.
