District 1-3A

Bushland sweeps Friona

The No. 1-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons opened District 1-3A play by soaring over Friona 25-11, 25-13, 25-16, in Friona on Saturday.

Bushland (27-4) moves to 1-0 in league play while extending its unbelievable district win streak to 74 straight games dating back to 2011.

Madyson Eberly, Camyron Barton and Abby Howell each had nine kills. Eberly added three blocks. Logan Culpepper and Kenzie Sims combined for 38 assists with Sims serving up four aces, and Jada Permenter registered 20 digs.

Friona falls to 13-11 overall and 0-1 in district.

Dalhart rallies past River Road

Dalhart went on the road and rallied back from an 0-2 deficit to beat River Road and former Dalhart head coach Kira Satterfield, 17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 15-13.

With the thrilling victory the Lady Wolves are 11-14 overall and 1-0 in District 1-3A. River Road drops to 11-14, 0-1.

Avery Baca knocked down 10 kills with three blocks for Dalhart followed by teammate Kammie Maddox with nine kills and three blocks. Elli Benzer finished with a double-double handing out 14 assists with 11 digs.

River Road’s Annie Strickland had 14 kills and Rylee Kunkel tallied 25 assists.

District 3-5A

Amarillo High opens district with W

The Amarillo High Lady Sandies opened District 3-5A by dominating Caprock at home 25-9, 25-10, 25-17, on Tuesday.

The Lady Sandies were led by Jo Moffitt’s 32 assists, five aces and two blocks. Ryan Pennington knocked down a team-high nine kills followed by Sienna Cavalier’s seven kills.

Amarillo High improves to 24-9 overall and 1-0 in district. Caprock falls to 17-13, 0-1.

Tascosa pummels Plainview

Tascosa also kicked off the district season in style thanks to a 25-13, 25-14, 25-14, sweep at home against Plainview.

The Lady Rebels (18-14) are off to a 1-0 start in District 3-5A. The Lady Bulldogs (12-20) fall to 0-1.

Meredith Sanning dished out 32 assists, and teammate Kassidy Langeland added 14 digs. Megan Sims was big offensively with 10 kills.

Palo Duro had a bye to open district but did play one final non-district game beating Plains 25-19, 25-23, 25-17.

Precious Johnson and Erin Mims each had 13 kills. Johnson had five blocks and Mims added four digs. The Lady Dons end non-district play at 14-13 overall.

District 4-4A

Hereford handles West Plains

Hereford stayed undefeated in district and kept pace with Randall getting a key 25-20, 25-20, 25-23, sweep at home against West Plains on Saturday.

Hereford improves to 5-0 and 26-6 overall. The No. 5-ranked Lady Whitefaces travel for a huge District 4-4A showdown with Randall (24-8, 5-0) for outright first place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. After a 3-0 start to district West Plains has suddenly dropped its last two games falling to 3-2 in the league and 24-5 overall.

Nickilah Whatley was tough for the Lady Wolves to stop. Whatley was big on both offense and defense knocking down nine kills and had 15 digs with three blocks. Kyndal Blair chipped in with 13 digs and seven blocks.

West Plains setter Zenaida Murrillo had a double-double setting 19 assists and hitting the floor for 13 digs.

Randall rolls

Randall stayed hot downing rival Canyon at home, 25-19, 25-20, 25-16, on Saturday.

Jordyn Gove powered home a team-high 16 kills and had nine digs as teammate Brooke Henderson added 14 kills with nine digs. Sydney Soria proves why she is one of the top players in the Amarillo-area finishing the game with 41 assists with 15 digs for a double-double.

Randall (24-8) is a perfect 5-0 in District 4-4A and will host Hereford (26-6, 5-0) in a first-place showdown at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Canyon slips to 7-25, 2-3.

Dumas and Pampa cruise

Dumas and Pampa both earned wins on Saturday. The Demonettes downed Perryton 25-5, 25-14, 25-21.

Kennedy Clements highlighted Dumas with eight kills. Desi Gutierrez had an impressive six aces and two blocks. Dumas moves to 2-3 in district and 20-14 overall. Perryton falls to 11-15, 0-5.

Pampa beat rival Borger 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, on Saturday.

The Lady Harvesters (18-11) stay tied in fourth place with Dumas and Canyon at 2-3 in District 4-4A. Borger (15-12) is a game behind at 1-4.

Senior standout Mikalie Floyd continues her fantastic season with 16 kills against Borger adding nine digs and two aces. Teammate Maecie Hawthorne had 21 assist with eight digs.

District 1-2A

Lady Hornets open district with victory 

After a bye to open league action on Tuesday, the No. 15-ranked Highland Park Lady Hornets opened District 1-2A with a convincing, 25-11, 25-9, 25-14, home victory on Saturday.

Highland Park is 1-0 to kick off district and 23-7 overall. Memphis drops to 7-13, 0-2.

Kyra Courtemanche dominated with 16 kills and five aces. Mercedes Harton had 29 assists and eye-popping nine aces.

WT High stays unbeaten in district

West Texas High stayed unbeaten in District 1-2A sweeping Vega on Saturday, 25-12, 25-17, 25-22. The Lady Comanches improve to 2-0 in district and 8-12 overall. Vega is 0-2 in district and 7-16 overall.

McKenna Jennings was outstanding racking up 38 assists as teammate Addison Lindley tagged on 27 assists. Zoe Smith played great defense with 31 digs and Sage Lay finished with seven kills.

TAPPS District 1-3A

San Jacinto dismantles Midland Trinity

The San Jacinto Christian Academy Lady Patriots dropped the first set to Midland Trinity but quickly rebounded for a four-set win, 24-26, 25-12, 25-23, 25-23, win on Saturday.

Devin Whitney and Harlie Brabham combined for 19 assists. Whitney had a team-high 10 with Brabham following with nine. Brabham also added a team-best four aces, and Macee Reid knocked down seven kills.

SJCA is off to a 20-9 start on the year and 3-3 in TAPPS District 1-3A.
