High School Volleyball roundup – West Plains, Randall, Hereford remain unbeaten in 4-4A

West Plains sweeps Canyon 

The incredible season continues for West Plains as the first-year program swept rival Canyon at home on Saturday, 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.

It was the first win for West Plains head coach Kaitlyn Cornelius over her close friend and mentor Sara Morath of Canyon.

The Lady Wolves (24-3 overall) are still unbeaten at 3-0 in District 4-4A and will host Randall (22-8, 3-0) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Outside hitter Jayli Franklin had a huge game with 15 kills against the Lady Eagles (6-24, 1-2). Zenaida Murrillo dished out 20 assists, while her sister Cecilia added 15. McCall Sims was tough defensively with 23 digs.

Randall dismantles Dumas

Randall kept pace atop the District 4-4A standings by sweeping Dumas at home Saturday, 25-20, 25-20, 25-10.

Jordyn Gove had a strong performance ending the match with a double-double powering down 16 kills with 20 digs and added two aces. Teammate Brooke Henderson had six kills with seven digs and two aces while Kenna Miller hit the floor for 10 digs with four aces.

Despite the loss Maris Rodriguez had 16 digs to lead the Demonettes (19-13, 1-2).

Randall is now 22-8 overall and 3-0 in district. The Lady Raiders play in a key district matchup at West Plains (24-3, 3-0) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hereford stays hot

Hereford remains unbeaten in the district race with a home sweep of the Pampa Lady Harvesters on Saturday, 25-12, 25-17, 25-22.

The Lady Whitefaces (24-6 overall) stay in a first-place tie with Randall and West Plains moving to 3-0 in District 4-4A. Pampa falls to 16-11 overall and 0-3 in district.

London Baker was all over the court for Hereford racking up 31 assists and made four aces. Camryn Blair led the team with 13 kills and Emma Cooper registered 15 digs.

Borger finds district win column

Borger earned its first district win on the year by going on the road and beating Perryton, 25-20, 25-8, 25-21.

Borger improves to 15-10 overall but more importantly 1-2 in District 4-4A. Perryton drops to 11-13, 0-3.

Katie Buchanan led the Lady Bulldogs with nine kills. Teammate Emilee Bridges added eight kills, three blocks with a pair of aces and Esther Quinones handed out 18 assists with four digs.

Non-district notes

Amarillo High bounced back from a loss to Odessa Permian on Tuesday by handling Odessa High at home on Friday, 25-9, 24-26, 25-17, 25-16.

The Lady Sandies improve to 22-9 overall and went 5-1 against District 2-6A during their non-district schedule.

Sienna Cavalier and Ella Krusa combined for 19 kills, and Kaylie Ledbetter tallied 21 digs.

Tascosa picked up a sweep of River Road, 25-14, 25-11, 25-11.

Meredith Sanning dished out 30 assists. Dominique Davis and Kassidy Langeland combined for 20 digs. The Lady Rebels improve to 17-13 overall.

Bushland stayed red hot by winning a triangular on Saturday. The Lady Falcons swept Levelland 25-9, 25-11, 25-8, then swept Shallowater, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20.

Madyson Eberly combined for 18 kills and seven blocks in the pair of victories. Logan Culpepper had a two-game total of 12 kills with 27 assists in the wins. Bushland improves to 25-4 overall.
