High School soccer roundup: Perryton boys win program’s first district game; Canyon girls stay hot

The Perryton Rangers wasted no time making a splash in their first year as a UIL soccer program. The Rangers went on the road and blanked Canyon 3-0 for the program’s first ever district win.

Perryton, who started the soccer program last season, improves to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in District 3-4A. The Eagles fall to 2-9, 0-2. Perryton’s Yahir Castillo scored a goal and dished out an assist. Aviel Montes and Oziel Ramirez also tallied goals for the Rangers.

Pampa pummels Randall 

The Pampa Harvesters stayed red hot getting an 8-1 rout of Randall on the road on Friday.

The Harvesters stay in control of District 3-4A at 2-0 and move to 4-5 overall. Randall drops to 0-1-1 in league play and 3-5-6 overall. Pampa’s prolific goal scorer Justin Martinez had a monster outing scoring five goals in the victory against the Raiders. Teammate Luis Montelongo registered two goals with an assist and Samael Munoz had an eye-popping four assists.

Dumas-West Plains play to tie

Dumas and West Plains played to a 2-2 tie at the Dumas Turf in a very competitive District 3-4A matchup on Friday night.

The Demons are now 2-6-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the league. West Plains moves to 3-6-4, 0-1-1. Ish Marchan and Noe Estrada netted goals for the Demons. Joseph Estrada and Jacob Hord each scored for the Wolves while Andrew Clavel and Jaiden Cervantes added the assists.

District 3-4A Girls 

Canyon soars past Perryton

Canyon made a long trip up to Perryton worth it by nabbing a commanding 6-0 victory over the Rangerettes on Friday night.

The Lady Eagles remain unbeaten in District 3-4A at 2-0 and improve to 7-3 overall. Gracie Van Winkle continued her strong play netting a pair of goals in the victory, while adding two assists. Teammate Avery Thomas also had two goals and dished out an assist.

West Plains remains unbeaten in 3-4A

The strong start for the West Plains Lady Wolves continued on Friday during a 2-1 victory at Dumas.

Kat Torres and Triniti Fernandez each scored for the Lady Wolves and Cali Bessent tacked on an assist. Nora Lugo had the lone goal for Dumas in the 20th minute. West Plains (12-1 overall) is off to a 2-0 start to district. Dumas falls to 2-9-2, 0-2.

Randall blanks Pampa

The Randall Lady Raiders have found the district win column by shutting out Pampa on Friday by a 5-0 count.

Randall opened up a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to scores from Rylee Bennett, on an assist from Alli Ingham in the 25th minute, followed by a Rionna Macias goal in the 38th minute off an assist from Ryan McClain. The Lady Raiders didn’t stop scoring in the second half as Bennett scored her second goal on the night in the 58th minute for a 4-0 advantage and Ingham tacked on a final goal in the 63rd minute for the 5-0 lead. Randall is now 10-1-4 overall and 1-0-1 in District 3-4A. Pampa falls to 2-7-1, 0-2.
