Hereford knocks off AHS; Canyon downs Tascosa, Randall wins a pair

The No. 2-ranked Lady Whitefaces out of Class 4A once again proved to be a legit contender in the state beating Amarillo High, 25-15, 16-25, 25-17, 25-22, at the AHS Activity Center.

This week alone Hereford (29-2 overall) won an intense five-set thriller at Lubbock-Cooper on Tuesday, then downed the Lady Sandies in four Saturday.

Senior Taytum Stow had a superb afternoon knocking down 16 kills with four aces. Teammate Camryn Blair had 15 kills, as Micah Palacios and London Baker combined for 46 assists.

Despite the loss, senior Currie Marusak led AHS (18-11) tallying 18 kills and 15 digs. Jo Moffitt handed out 38 assists.

Randall won a pair of home games Saturday in impressive fashion.

The Lady Raiders swept Lubbock-Cooper, 25-17, 25-23, 27-25, followed by a sweep of Dumas, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21.

Paris Patterson combined for 27 kills. Teammate Jordyn Gove totaled 15 kills and had 10 digs against Dumas.

The Lady Raiders are 17-12 overall. The Demonettes drop to 22-9.

Canyon went to Tascosa and came away with a stunning five-set victory, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11. Freshman Brooklyn Kinsey continues to improve hammering 10 kills with a block. Senior Ryne Roden had 39 assists.

Tascosa’s Abrey Galt finished with 44 assists, 12 digs and three aces.
