H.S. Volleyball weekend roundup: Hereford stays hot with a sweep of state-ranked Stephenville

The Hereford Lady Whitefaces capped off a huge week with a pair of wins over state-ranked opponents.

Hereford had to fight to earn a five-set thrilling victory against No. 2 Bushland from Class 3A on Tuesday. It was Bushland’s first loss in close to a calendar year.

The Lady Whitefaces rode that momentum into Saturday where they took it to No. 5-ranked Stephenville from Class 4A with a 25-9, 25-14, 25-19, sweep in Vernon.

Hereford is starting to gain its momentum and it showed in both victories. Senior setter Rainey Aven was stellar against the Honeybees making dishing out 35 assists, hitting the floor for six digs, slamming down six kills as well as serving four aces.

Teammate and middle blocker Taytum Stow added 20 kills, and Miranda Acosta had 18 digs.

Hereford improves to 6-1 overall on the year.
