For the first time in school history the Childress Lady Bobcats are off to an 8-0 start.

The Lady Bobcats stayed unbeaten with wins against River Road and Perryton at River Road on Saturday.

First-year Childress head coach Brett Zaccardo — a former Bushland All-State standout and state champion — has done an amazing job resurrecting the program.

Zaccardo, with the help of a veteran roster that has bought into Zaccardo’s coaching style, have doubled last seasons win total.

Childress downed River Road, 19-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-16, followed by a 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 sweep of Perryton on Saturday.

Senior middle blocker Grace Foster totaled a combined 36 kills in the victories, while teammate Lilly Stephens tallied a total of 52 assists.

The Bushland Lady Falcons are on a roll to start the 2020 season. Bushland was suppose to play in Denver City on Saturday, but moved to a triangular showdown with big matches against state-ranked Peaster and Stephenville.

The No. 1-ranked Lady Falcons out of Class 3A were able to make an early season statement by sweeping both No. 2-Stephenville out of Class 4A (25-20, 25-18, 25-13) and No. 10 Peaster from Class 3A (27-25, 25-18, 25-17).

Senior outside hitter Kinley Rudder continues her torrid start to the year knocking down a total of 35 kills. Taryn Schultz and Logan Culpepper dished out a combined 73 assists.
