H.S. Volleyball weekend recap: Bushland and Canyon soar; Amarillo High finds win column

Friday and Saturday saw another full slate of High School Volleyball involving all classes across the Texas Panhandle.

The No. 2-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons were dominant on the road beating both Frenship and Lubbock Monterey on Friday.

Bushland (14-2) defeated Frenship 25-19, 15-25, 25-19, 25-18, followed by a sweep of Monterey 25-19, 25-17, 25-11.

Outside hitter Kinley Rudder combined for 32 kills in both matches, Jaycee Adams had a total of 42 digs while sophomore Logan Culpepper tallied 38 assists.

Canyon held off Tascosa in a five-game thriller 28-26, 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 15-13, on Friday.

The Lady Eagles close their nondistrict schedule with a 7-3 record and will open District 4-4A play at rival Hereford (11-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Tradition-rich Amarillo High was off to a rough a rough 0-4 start before finally claiming its first win at Dumas on Saturday.

The Lady Sandies (1-4) struggled with a pair of losses to Weatherford and Grandbury on Friday, but were able to sweep the Demonettes 25-17, 25-22, 25-12. Oustide hitter Currie Marusak led the way with 10 kills and 12 digs.
