The second meeting between district rivals Hereford and Canyon wasn’t near as dramatic as the first on Sept. 22, that went all five sets.

The Lady Whitefaces set the tone early and unlike the first matchup kept their foot on the gas for a 25-16, 25-22, 25-15 sweep at the Canyon Gym on Saturday.

Hereford (17-1 overall) takes control of the District 4-4A standings opening a two-game lead at 6-0.

Canyon (11-5) falls two games back at 4-2.

Hereford’s middle blocker Taytum Stow was the difference at the net as the junior continues to put her name in the Player of the Year conversation.

Stow ended the match with a game-high 15 kills and made eight blocks.

Nikilah Whatley did her own damage with eight digs and three blocks.

Amarillo High and Plainview was the District 3-5A match to happen Saturday.
