H.S. Volleyball roundup: Tascosa stays hot with key district win; Randall, AHS, Bushland roll

It was redemption night at the Tascosa Activity Center as the Lady Rebels gained a measure of revenge with a four-set win over Midland High Tuesday night.

Tascosa beat the Lady Bulldogs, 25-16, 20-25, 25-12, 26-24, getting back a loss from MHS at the start of district play.

The red hot Lady Rebels have now won four straight improving to 4-2 in District 2-6A and 21-14 overall. They also move into second place by themselves after first place Frenship swept Midland Lee on Tuesdsay.

With four games remaining in district, Tascosa trails Frenship (29-7, 6-0) by two games for the top spot.

With the match tied, 1-1, against the Lady Bulldogs (17-17, 3-3), the Lady Rebels seized control with a strong third set. Tascosa dominated that set 25-12 and never looked back.

Senior Taryn Galt provided the power with 20 kills. Kayden Bridges had a gritty 19 digs, and Aliyah Hardy dished out 45 assists.

Tascosa continues league action at Odessa Permian at 5 p.m. Friday.

Randall and Amarillo earn victories

As expected, Randall and Amarillo High took care of business on Tuesday night.

The No. 3-ranked Lady Raiders completed the season sweep of Caprock 25-9, 25-14, 25-8.

Brianna Ford had six kills to go with four aces and three blocks.

Randall (33-3 overall) is 12-0 in District 3-5A, running its district win streak to 38 straight games.

Amarillo High pushed past Palo Duro 25-9, 25-6, 25-10. The Lady Sandies (27-12) stay a half game back of Randall in District 3-5A at 12-1.

Corrin Davis was dominating making seven aces in the victory.

Canyon bounces back

The Canyon Lady Eagles were able to get back in the win column following a loss to Hereford on Saturday.

Canyon took no time cruising past struggling Lubbock Estacado, 25-8, 25-7, 25-14.

Emma Crenshaw led the way for the Lady Eagles with 12 kills and three aces.

Canyon is now 23-15 overall and 4-1 in District 3-4A.

Dumas downs Perryton

Dumas was able to put Saturday’s loss to Pampa behind them by blowing out Perryton thanks to a 25-6, 25-9, 25-8, sweep on the road Tuesday night.

Sydnee Wackler finished with 22 assists against the Rangerettes while teammate Jadan Price tallied 19 digs.

The Demonettes improve to 18-18 overall and 4-1 in District 4-4A.

Borger was able to stay a game back of Dumas for second with a sweep of Dalhart. The Lady Bulldogs (13-19 overall) are 3-2 in district action.

No. 1 Lady Falcons keep on winning

Nobody maybe playing better volleyball than the No. 1-ranked Bushland Lady Falcons.

Bushland did what they’ve done all through district and that’s destroy anyone in its way.

The Lady Falcons (38-1, 6-0 in District 1-3A) were able to make quick work of struggling Dimmitt, 25-8, 25-5, 25-5, on Tuesday to win its eye-opening 30th straight match of the season.

Not only is that stellar, but Bushland runs its district win streak to 82 straight games dating back to 2009.

Ansley Sims made 14 assists with seven aces against the Bobbies.

Highland Park and Sanford-Fritch stay neck and neck

It seems both No. 6 Highland Park and No. 7 Sanford-Fritch have it on cruise control till its showdown on Oct. 22, in Fritch.

Highland Park swept Sanford-Fritch in the first meeting.

The Lady Hornets eased past Miami 25-17, 25-11, 25-12 on Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles did the to Olton, 25-16, 25-3, 25-12.

Highland Park won its 30th game of the year, moving to 30-8 overall. Highland Park also stayed a game ahead of Fritch (24-5 overall) in the district standings.

The Lady Hornets are 11-0, and the Lady Eagles are 10-1.
