H.S. Volleyball roundup: Canyon stays hot; AHS rolls, Dumas wins

Canyon continues to dominate through the early portion of the district schedule.

The Lady Eagles won their 11th straight District 3-4A game dating back to last season with a sweep of Levelland 25-12, 25-9, on Saturday at the Canyon Gym.

Canyon is 3-0 in district play with the victory and 22-13 overall.

Seniors were crucial against Levelland. Canyon’s Emma Crenshaw stepped up with 11 kills and was sensational on her serves with five aces.

Lady Eagles senior Bryli Contreras was just as key, as the libero made a game-high 25 digs.

Levelland drops to 20-12, 1-1.

Hereford gets a W

Hereford handled Lamesa to stay perfect in District 3-4A with a 25-8, 25-13, 25-14, home victory Saturday.

Taytum Stow led the Lady Whitefaces with nine kills. Rainey Aven added eight kills and 13 assists.

Hereford is 2-0 in district and 24-13 overall. Lamesa falls to 20-13, 0-3.

Tascosa wins in four over Odessa High

Make it two straight district wins for the Tascosa Lady Rebels.

Tascosa was able to go on the road and get a convincing victory against Odessa High, 25-14, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14.

Tascosa stays in great position for a playoff spot at 2-2 in District 2-6A and 19-14 overall.

Taryn Galt was big for the Lady Rebels knocking 21 kills. Kayden Bridges added 24 digs.

OHS falls to 12-18, 0-4,

Amarillo High dominates Coronado

It took no time for Amarillo High to take care of business handling Lubbock Coronado, 25-9, 25-13, 25-19, on Saturday at the AHS Activity Center.

The Lady Sandies (24-12 overall), which honored, who honored all 10 state championship teams on Saturday, stayed a half game back of Randall for first place at 9-1 in District 3-5A.

Senior Hannah Shipman dished out 24 assists, and teammate Corrin Davis had four aces.

Randall opened the second half of district easing past Lubbock High 25-12, 25-10, 25-7.

Randall moves to 9-0 in District 3-5A and earns its 30th win on the season moving to 30-3.

The No. 3-ranked Lady Raiders were led by Brianna Ford’s 13 kills and 12 digs.

Zoe Parker added 10 digs.

Dumas keeps win streak going

The Dumas Demonettes ran its district win streak to 11 straight games thanks to a sweep of Dalhart 25-12, 25-20, 25-21 on Saturday.

Dumas improves to 17-17 overall and 3-0 in District 4-4A.

Sydney Wackler put up 19 assists with two aces.

Highland Park and Sanford-Fritch cruise

The top two teams in District 4-2A kept their winning ways going on Saturday.

Highland Park swept Wildorado 25-19 25-15 25-10.

Senior Cynarah Rodriguez was the story for the No. 7 Lady Hornets.

Rodriguez was a dig away from triple-double. Rodriguez collected a game-high 20 kills, 11 assists and nine digs.

Sanford-Fritch was able to stay a game back of Highland Park, handling Fritch beat Miami

25-18, 25-16, 25-14.

The No. 11 Lady Eagles are 7-1 in district and 22-5 overall.

Senior Zoey Fry had 19 kills and four blocks. Tiffani Henry added 31 assists.
