Lubbock Monterey simply had no answer for Amarillo High middle blocker Chelsie Freeman.

Freeman’s aggressive play Tuesday night took over as the No. 9 Lady Sandies finished off the season sweep of the Lady Plainsman with a 25-10, 25-9, 25-15 victory at the AHS Activity Center.

The 6-foot-1 senior owned the net, knocking down 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .750, stacked up three blocks and led the team with four assists.

Teammate Hannah Shipman followed Freeman’s effort with 35 assists.

AHS improves to 13-1 in District 3-5 and 28-12 overall. Monterey falls to 34-9, 12-3.

The Lady Sandies will get a rematch with rival Randall (35-5, 14-0) at noon, Saturday. Randall handed the Lady Sandies their only loss in district earlier this season.

If AHS can bear the No. 3 Lady Raiders, they can move into a first place tie in the district race.
