H.S. Volleyball roundup: AHS handles Canyon; Tascosa and Randall roll, Highland Park wins

The volleyball season is nearly a month old and for the first time in 25 games Amarillo High finally played a game in front of the home fans Tuesday night at the AHS Activity Center.

The Lady Sandies didn’t disappoint in the home opener by any means taking care of Canyon in sweeping fashion, 25-11, 25-16, 25-12.

Senior leader Currie Marusak attacked the net the entire evening knocking down a game-high 17 kills to go with 10 digs for a double-double. Teammate Brielle Worley added 16 blocks with four aces, and Jo Moffitt, the daughter of head coach Mike Moffitt, dished out 34 assists.

AHS improves to 16-9 overall.

Across town, Tascosa played strong volleyball nabbing a 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, 25-20, victory against Class 6A Frenship.

The Lady Rebels improve to 19-7 on the year.

Abrey Galt was lights out with a game-high 32 assists, 14 digs and three aces. Liv Sims and Bebe Irwin combined for 22 kills in the win.

Randall went on the road to dominate Lubbock Coronado, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18.

Paris Patterson led the way with nine kills, nine digs and five aces. Taylor Irving hit the hardwood for 12 digs.

The Lady Raiders move to 15-11 overall.

Highland Park continued its solid play. The Lady Hornets (15-6) took out Pampa at home Tuesday thanks to a 25-17, 26-24, 25-14, sweep.

Senior standout Nevaeh Rodriguez powered down 12 kills to go with three aces. Teammate Mercedes Harton ended her night in double-double fashion tallying 28 assists and 13 digs.
