H.S. Volleyball playoff roundup: Randall, AHS dominate; Pampa, Highland Park move on

It was a much smoother showing for No. 3-ranked Randall than its bidistrict match Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders were absolutely dominating In their sweep (25-13, 25-12, 25-21) of El Paso Eastlake in the Class 5A area round Thursday at Frenship.

Randall is now 39-3 overall on the year, and will move on to the regional quarterfinals to take on District 4-5A champion Aledo at a time and place to be determined.

The Lady Cats (29-15) beat El Paso High in four sets Thursday.

Brianna Ford racked up 10 kills, eight digs and three aces in Thursday’s win.

Zoe Parker made four blocks and Torryn Barrientos dished out 15 assists.

Randall def. El Paso Eastlake 25-13, 25-12, 25-21.

Records: Randall 39-3; Eastlake 22-13.

Lady Sandies blow past El Dorado

Amarillo High is headed back to familiar territory after breezing past El Paso El Dorado (25-15, 25-14, 25-20) in a Class 5A area round match on Tuesday night in Kermit.

Corrin Davis had a stout performance, ending with a double-double with 13 kills, adding 11 blocks.

Currie Marusak had 10 kills and teammate Hannah Shipman made a team-high 38 assists.

AHS (31-13 overall) is headed back to the regional quarterfinals where they’ll face either El Paso Chapin or Abilene Wylie, which play Saturday.

Amarillo High def. El Paso El Dorado 25-15, 25-14, 25-20.

Records: Amarillo High 31-13; EP El Dorado 26-7.

Pampa sweeps Seminole, advances to regionals quarters

For the first time in nearly a decade the Pampa Lady Harvesters are headed to the third round of the University Interscholastic playoffs.

Pampa made that happen by routing Seminole in a, 25-11, 25-18, 25-19, sweep in a Class 4A area round match on Thursday afternoon in Friona.

It will be the Lady Harvesters (27-12 overall) first trip to the regional final since 2010. They’ll now await the winner of Saturday’s match between District 3-4A co-champion, Canyon and Monahans.

Georgie Osborne was unstoppable against the Maidens on Thursday. Pampa’s powerful outside hitter knocked down a game-high 17 kills, added two blocks with two aces. Teammate Hallie Sieck fed Osborne most of the afternoon with 32 assists while totaling 10 digs.

Highland Park routs Fort Hancock

It was a smooth way to kickoff the playoffs for Highland Park, earning a sweep () of Fort Hancock in a Class 2A area round match in Andrews on Thursday.

The Lady Hornets, who had a bye in the first round of the postseason, improve to 34-8 overall. Highland Park advances to face thePlains-McCamey winner in the regional quarterfinals.

Cynarah Rodriquez, no stranger to the playoffs, used her experience to lead Highland Park. The versatile senior had Fort Hancock on its heels pounding down 14 kills, dishing out 13 assists and serving three aces. Teammate Cassidy DeShong was equally impressive with 13 digs and 12 assists.
