Canyon claimed the outright District 4-4A crown, but it wasn’t easy.
The Lady Eagles had to erase an early 5-1 deficit to Dumas by rallying back for a 7-6 victory Tuesday at Conner Park in Canyon.
The Lady Eagles not only clinch district but stay a perfect 9-0 in the league standings. Despite a solid effort, the Demonettes fall to 12-10, 6-3.
Dumas opened up a 5-1 lead in the top of the third thanks to a 4-run top of the third. With the game tied at 1-1, Katie Contreras delivered an RBI single to put the Demonettes up 3-1. Later in the inning, Aaliyah Garcia doubled home two more runs extending the advantage to 5-1.
Canyon answered in the home half of the third courtesy of the long ball. Berkley Bradley hit a solo shot making it 5-2, then a few batters later Lia Gutierrez made Senior Day a memorable one with a 2-run shot to centerfield, and it was 5-4 Dumas.
The Lady Eagles took the lead making the comeback complete in the bottom of the fourth thanks to the dangerous bat of senior Danielle Burns. The slugger bombed a 2-run homer to left field giving Canyon a 6-5 advantage.
Even with a shaky start freshman pitcher Kylie Knowles (14-5) worked her way through all seven innings allowing four earned runs, but did rack up 12 K’s.

Borger out slugs Hereford
In one of the wilder games of the softball season, Borger outlasted Hereford in a frantic District 4-4A contest to come away with a 23-20 win on the road Tuesday.
The game between the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Whitefaces left fans with a little bit of everything. The two teams combined for 43 runs, 31 hits and a total of 23 errors.
Borger (12-7 overall, 3-6 in district) 13-7 heading into the bottom of the fifth before Hereford exploded with an 11-run inning in the bottom half of the fifth highlighted by an Xandria Liscano 3-run home run. Hereford seemed in control up 18-13, however, the Lady Bulldog bats answered scoring 10 runs over the last two innings to snag the victory.
Natalie Chisum was on fire for Borger knocking in four RBIs on three doubles. Tanley McDonald also had a big day at the dish going 2-for-6 with a double, and adding a 3-run homer.

Pampa puts it on Perryton
Pampa pounded out 20 runs and 20 hits on the way to a convincing 20-6 win at Perryton in a district matchup Tuesday.
Freshman Kynleigh Kirby left it all on the field going 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs. In the circle, Kirby threw a complete game allowing one earned run and totaled six K’s.
Catcher Jasmine Hanen helped out driving in two runs on three hits.
With a Hereford loss to Borger, Pampa (12-7-1) sits all alone in third place in District 4-4A at 5-4. Perryton drops to 5-13, 0-9.

Plainview stuns Caprock
For a second straight game Plainview has shook things up in District 3-5A.
Last Friday the Lady Bulldogs knocked Randall out of first place, and Tuesday night they did the same to Caprock with a 5-1 home win.
Caprock (10-6 overall) drops a game back of Amarillo High (12-9, 7-2) for the district lead at 6-3. All of sudden Plainview (11-15) improves to 5-4 in district just a game back of Randall and Caprock for third place with a game remaining in the regular season.
Esmeralda had her second consecutive strong outing in the circle by handcuffing the Lady Longhorns. Lucio tossed a gem, giving up seven hits over seven innings, tallying 11 strikeouts.
Madison Martinez provided the offense that included a double on a 2-for-4 outing driving in two runs.

AHS cruises past Palo Duro
Amarillo High took over sole possession of the District 3-5A lead with a 24-3 pummeling of Palo Duro mixed with a Plainview win against Caprock.
AHS (12-9 overall) is 7-2 in the league race, sitting a game up on both Randall and Caprock at 6-3.
Danae Lopez torched Lady Dons pitching racking up four RBIs on three hits that saw a double on her day. Teammate Tessia Guzman chipped in going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Randall run-rules Tascosa
Randall bounced back from a loss to Plainview last Friday by handling Tascosa in a 19-5 run-rule victory on the road Friday.
Berkley Browder not only picked up the win in the circle going all five innings, scattering six hits with two K’s, but Browder also was superb at the plate driving in a 2-run double.
Heaven Moreno added to the offensive onslaught totaling four RBIs with a triple.
The Lady Raiders are now 6-3 in district, and 15-11-1 overall. Tascosa falls to 6-14, 2-7.

Bushland bounces Canadian
Bushland made its Senior Day one to remember hitting six home runs in a 29-1 blasting of Canadian during a district game Monday afternoon.
Joey Fowler made the most of her last home game as the senior led the long ball barrage hitting a 2-run homer to go with a grand slam, totaling a career-high seven RBIs for the game. Avery Sena, the sister combo of Jillian and Abby Howell, and Sydney Steward also went deep in the victory. Abby Howell tacked on five RBIs, while teammate Sena finished her afternoon tacking on a double driving in four runs.
Jillian Howell not only was impressive at the plate, but dominated in the circle by no-hitting the Lady Cats, rolling up 10 strikeouts.
Bushland is now 8-0 in District and 21-2-1 overall. Canadian falls to 3-20, 0-8.

River Road rolls Dalhart
A 13-run second inning lifted River Road past Dalhart in a District 1-3A clash at River Road on Tuesday.
The win gives the Lady Wildcats (10-11, 4-4) sole possession of second place in district thanks to taking 2-of-3 games from the Lady Wolves (9-9, 4-4) during the league schedule.
Shiyan Lozano was tough in the circle and big at the plate for River Road. Lozano tossed all five innings giving up one earned run with seven strikeouts. Lozano then helped her own cause going 2-for-4 at the dish with a pair of RBIs. Teammate Morgan Shelburne feasted on Lady Wolves pitching thanks to a 4-for-4 day with a double and five RBIs.
