Class 6A 

Thursday’s game

Midland High (1-4, 0-0) at Tascosa (4-1, 0-0), 7 p.m. 

Finally, district begins for the Rebels. And it begins in a big way. … Tascosa 45, Midland 14.

Friday’s games

Odessa Permian (2-3, 0-0) vs. Odessa High (2-3, 0-0), 7:30 p.m. 

Rivalry game in The House of Friday Night Lights. Both teams have struggled at times this year but go with MOJO. … Permian 28, Odessa 14.

Frenship (4-1, 0-0) at Midland Lee (5-0, 0-0) 7:30 p.m. 

Game of the night in 2-6A. Both of these teams will be in the playoffs eventually. Go with Lee at home as its defense will do enough to corral Frenship’s dynamic QB Donovan Smith. … LEE 35, Frenship 25

Class 5A

Thursday’s games

Caprock (1-4, 1-0) at Lubbock High (1-5, 0-2), 7 p.m. 

The Rock is coming off its first win and then a bye week. The rest and too much offense for Caprock will leave the surging Rock 2-0 in district. … Caprock 38, Lubbock 18.

Randall (1-4, 0-0) at Wichita Falls High (1-4, 0-0), 7 p.m. 

Randall revives it’s season and begins a run to the playoffs with a solid road win. … Randall 28, Old High 21.

Friday’s games

Palo Duro (3-3, 1-1) at Abilene Cooper (6-0, 2-0), 7:30 p.m. 

The Dons are riding high off a nice district win over Lubbock High. But Cooper’s offense has been riding high all season long and averages 61 points in two district wins. … Cooper 55, PD 13. 

Lubbock Coronado (3-3, 1-1) at Amarillo High (3-2, 1-0), 7:30 p.m. 

This will be good. Real good. Coronado coach Seth Parr (former Caprock coach) and his Mustangs are stinging for last week’s loss to Abilene Cooper. AHS had its best offensive game of the year last week putting up 49 on Monterey. A wild one. … AHS  49, Coronado 45.

Canyon (6-0) at Andrews (5-1), 7 p.m. 

This is going to be the Eagles biggest test before they start a very competitive district schedule in two weeks. Watch for the Canyon offense to be the difference, making a long road trip worth it. … Canyon 33, Andrews 26. 

Dumas (6-0) at Big Spring (1-5), 7 p.m. 

The Demons will go on the road and take care of business. … Dumas 48, Big Spring 7.

Borger (1-5, 0-0) at Lubbock Estacado (6-0, 0-0), 7 p.m. 

It’s the district opener for the Bulldogs. They’ll fight hard, but the Matadors are on a different level right now. … Estacado 47, Borger 13. 

Dalhart (3-3, 0-0) at Perryton (1-5, 0-0), 7 p.m.

This is a key matchup for a district opener. The winner puts themself in solid position for a playoff spot. The loser will have work to do. … Dalhart 23, Perryton 17. 

Slaton (3-2, 0-0) at Bushland (5-0, 0-0), 7 p.m.

Coming off a bye week, Bushland is fired up to get its district schedule rolling. The Tigers bring a lot of team speed, but do can they ground a high-flying pass attack the Falcons bring? … Bushland 45, Slaton 19.

River Road (2-3, 0-0) at Shallowater (2-3, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Wildcats are feeling good coming off back-to-back wins before their bye. But the Mustangs are a district contender for a reason. … Shallowater 37, River Road 14.

Spearman (3-2, 0-0) at Dimmitt (1-4, 0-0), 7 p.m.

How much did the bye week help Lynx lick their wounds from a two-game losing skid? Dimmitt’s offense is good enough to keep them in it, but expect Spearman to pull away. … Spearman 46, Dimmitt 21. 

Friona (5-0, 0-0) at Childress (0-5, 0-0), 7 p.m.

Throw the records out. Yes, it’s been a miserable nondistrict for the Bobcats but Fair Park Stadium is a tough place to play. The Chieftains can gain a lot of confidence with a district road victory against a team better than its record. … Friona 26, Childress 14.

Tulia (3-2, 0-0) at Canadian (5-0, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A Division II looks to extend its Impressive district win streak to 30 straight games. The Wildcats last district loss came in 2012. … Canadian 47, Tulia 7.

Saturday’s games

Hereford (3-3) at San Angelo Lake View (3-3), 2 p.m. 

The Whitefaces played hard and gave themselves a chance last week against Andrews. Saturday should be a bounce back game before opening district in two weeks. … Hereford 29, Lake View 17.

Clint (3-2) vs. Pampa (5-1), 2 p.m. Mustang Bowl, Andrews.

Quarterback Tucker Bridwell and the Harvesters head to Andrews with a fifth straight win on their mind. … Pampa 34, Clint 16.

Panhandle (4-1, 0-0) at Boys Ranch (0-5, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Panthers are ready to get a bad taste out of their mouth after a loss to Wellington. The Roughriders have yet to gain traction, facing an 0-5 record. The Panthers win big on the road. … Panhandle 47, Boys Ranch 6

Sunray (0-5, 0-0) at Sanford-Fritch (0-5, 0-0), 7 p.m. 

Both teams have yet to find the win column so far at the midway point in the season. However, one will emerge as the winner in a “grind-it-out” fashion, keeping their playoff chances alive. … Sunray 26, Sanford-Fritch 18

Bovina (2-3, 0-0) at Sudan (5-0, 0-0), 7 p.m.

Sudan has been on a tear so far in the season. Bovina is still trying to piece it together. Hornets stay unbeaten. … Sudan 42, Bovina 12

Farwell (3-2, 0-0) at Seagraves (2-4, 0-0), 7 p.m.

Farwell has seen bright spots in its team halfway through 2019. Seagraves is still looking to get their wheels spinning. But the start of district brings a fresh start for the Eagles. … Seagraves 35, Farwell 22 

Stratford (5-1, 0-0) at Clarendon (4-2, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Elks have been on fire. Be sure to keep an eye on Stratford’s do-it-all player Iuden Romero to have a big night against the Broncos. … Stratford 42, Clarendon 13.

Vega (5-1, 0-0) at Booker (1-4, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Longhorns travel to Booker to take on the struggling Kiowas. Vega has seen early success, and will likely continue that success in Booker. … Vega 48, Booker 7.

Memphis (1-4, 0-0) at Shamrock (1-4, 0-0), 7 p.m.

Both teams are ready to regroup after a tough nondistrict schedule.The Irish have the firepower to start district action with a victory. … Shamrock 33, Memphis 20.

Quanah (1-4, 0-0) at Wellington (4-1, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Skyrockets keep their engine running fast this week against a lackluster Indians team. … Wellington 56, Quanah 14.

Wheeler (4-1, 0-0) at Munday (2-2, 0-0), 7 p.m.

The Mustangs turned some heads after a big win against Gruver. Even after that big victory, don’t expect Wheeler to look past the Moguls. … Wheeler 48, Munday 8.

Riding a two-game winning streak the Patriots will head into Motley County looking to prove that they can win big games. Happy (4-2, 0-0) at Hart (1-5, 0-0) 7:30 p.m. The Cowboys took a beating last week, but they will look to turn things around against the Longhorns and start district play with a win. … Happy 63, Hart 13

Groom (3-2, 0-0) at Miami (4-1, 0-0), 7:30 p.m. The Tigers has one last game before they start their district championship hunt. Miami will be a good test. Look for the Groom offense to take control early. … Groom 60 Miami 8

Lubbock Titans (0-5)  at Nazareth (2-2) 7 p.m. The Swifts got the win on Homecoming and now look to build some momentum before they head into district play next week. … Nazareth 52, Lubbock Titans 6

Claude (3-3) at White Deer (5-1) 7:30 p.m. The Bucks got a big win last week against Milford. The Mustangs are still struggling to find their footing. The Bucks should run wild. … White Deer 56, Claude 10

Saturday’s game

McLean (5-1) at Baird (4-1) 2 p.m. The Tigers looked good last week against a hot Happy team. This team seems to be on a different level as we head into the second half. Expect more of the same from the Tigers this week. … McLean 65 Baird 20
