Amarillo High (0-0) at Midland Lee (0-0), 7 p.m. Amarillo High draws a rattlesnake to open 2020. Lee is my pick to win its 6A district. AHS is a legit top 10 team in 5A. But I think this one is too much to ask this early in the season. … Lee 38, AHS 28

Tascosa (0-0) at Abilene High (0-0), 7 p.m. Rebs begin their non-district run against 6A foes. Tascosa has team speed across the board that is frightening and will be the difference in this one. … Tascosa 35, Abilene High 14

Caprock (0-0) at Lubbock Cooper (0-0), 7 p.m. The Rock is going to better than most people believe. But Cooper is just what everybody believes – ready for a deep playoff run. .. Cooper 42, Caprock 28

Midland Greenwood (2-1) at Canyon (3-0), 7 p.m. Big time matchup here. Greenwood will be chomping at the bit having two weeks to prepare for this one. Canyon’s offense can beat you in the passing and rushing game. But how ‘bout that Eagles defense allowing 3 points the last two games?. … Canyon 31, Greenwood 21

Plainview (0-0) at Hereford (1-2), 7 p.m. If this isn’t a 2020 game I don’t know what it is. Here we are six days from October and this is Plainview’s opener. Herd has struggled the last two times out but with three games under its belt and a home will be the difference. … Hereford 28, Plainview 24

Pampa (4-0) at Levelland (1-3), 7 p.m. Pampa owns a prolific offense averaging 51.5 points a game snd coming a 73-point effort against Denver City. District 3-4A continues to be rough on Levelland. Last week it was Dumas this week it’s Pampa. … Pampa 55, Levelland 31.

Sundown (3-1) at Farwell (3-0), 7 p.m. Here’s one of the better matchups of the night. The Steers are a quiet 3-0 with solid offense and stingy defense. This is going to be a great test to see where they are at against the roughnecks. … Sundown 27, Farwell 22

Gruver (0-4) at Shamrock (4-0), 7 p.m. The script has flipped from a year ago for two programs that are going in the opposite direction. The Greyhounds play extremely hard, but the Irish are hot. … Shamrock 32, Gruver 20
