Friday’s game
Amarillo High (5-3, 3-2) at Lubbock High (2-6, ,0-4), 3 p.m. Plains Capital Park Lowrey Field, Lubbock
The last time AHS lost to Lubbock High was in 1973.
Now the teams haven’t met every year since, but it’s close, trust me.
The Sandies righted their ship last week beating PD by Six Oh!
Much the same this week as, yes, this will be Blow! Sand! Blow! … Amarillo High 55, Lubbock 14
Lubbock Coronado (8-0, 4-0) vs. Lubbock Monterey (3-4, 2-2), 7 p.m. We have longtime rivalry game down south in Lubbock town,
This one I’m afraid will be all Monterey wearing a frown.
Coronado, as usual, under Coach Parr can score at will.
But that defense has stepped up, no doubt owning skill. … Coronado 45, Monterey 13
Class 4A
Regional semifinals
Thursday’s game
Dumas (11-1) vs. Springtown (10-2), 4 p.m., Big Spring: Lookie here we have a Thanksgiving Day treat,
A third round playoff game! A third round playoff, I repeat.
The Dumas Comeback Kids want no part of falling behind early,
Somehow QB Williams will lead the way to a W, leaving S-Town surly. … Dumas 24, Springtown 21
Friday’s game
Canyon (10-1) vs. Decatur (7-5), 3 p.m., Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium, Abilene
Don’t be fooled by Decatur’s pedestrian record of 7-5,
No doubt some of the losses to legit powers, few could survive.
Canyon was kicked to the curb by Decatur last playoff season,
Won’t be easy, Canyon’s defense will be the difference, I reason. … Canyon 21, Decatur 17

Friday games
Pilot Point (9-3) vs. Bushland (9-2), 5 p.m. Leo Brittain Field Lions Stadium, Vernon: The Falcons enter this matchup against the tradition-rich Bearcats winners of eight straight games. Bushland showed moxie beating Wall in double OT, and will need to keep that fire Friday. … Bushland 33, Pilot Point 30
Childress (9-2), Spearman (11-1), 7 p.m. Happy State Bank Stadium, Canyon: Here’s a rematch from a Week 5 thriller where the Lynx got past the Bobcats, 42-36, in an overtime classic. These two teams know each other inside and out. Round 2 should be just as entertaining. … Spearman 35, Childress 30
Canadian (11-1) vs. Idalou (10-0), 2 p.m. Happy State Bank Stadium, Canyon: It’s a rekindling of an old playoff rivalry from the mid 2000’s. Both teams are different but have beaten everyone in their path. This one should be a dandy. … Canadian 34, Idalou 20
Class 2A
Regional semifinals
Panhandle (10-2) vs. Post (12-0), 7 p.m. Lubbock-Cooper: If anyone can take down the heavily favored Bold Gold, the Panthers have the offense to do it. But can Panhandle’s defense make the stops when needed. Expect a shootout with an upset looming. … Panhandle 63, Post 57
McCamey (10-1) vs. Stratford (7-5), 6 p.m. Todd Field, Shallowater: The Elks have found their groove, and are playing some really good football at the right time. … Stratford 29, McCamey 20
Vega (10-2) vs. Wellington (11-0), 7 p.m. Bulldogs Stadium, Borger: What a matchup between two of the top teams in the Texas Panhandle. This is a game definitely worth the price of admission. … Wellington 32, Vega 24

State quarterfinals
Friday’s game
Follett (12-0) vs. Groom (11-1), 7 p.m. Friday, Pampa: Both of these teams are hidden in the most Northern part of the state, but have really shined in this playoff run. Follett has had a season of redemption going undefeated heading into the Regional Championship. Groom is here to finish the job they started last season. Follett has had their redemption but Groom has not, they continue on. … Groom 74, Follett 62.
Saturday’s game
Happy (11-1) vs. Borden County (10-2) , 6 p.m. Saturday, Levelland: They meet once again. There have been many meetings between the Cowboys and Coyotes and yet again this one is for the Regional Championship. Borden County has had the upper hand in the past and may again, but the Cowboys strength lie within a team dynamic and not just one player. The issue in this game is defense, Borden County has the better in my opinion, and that’s the difference. … Borden County 63, Happy 56.
