Class 5A

Thursday’s game

Lub. Monterey (2-3, 1-1) at Caprock (1-4, 0-1), 7 p.m. This one likely determines a future playoff spot;

After a bye week Caprock is hungry and rested a lot.

Monterey proved last week it can play some D,

But so can The Rock, so we shall see. … Monterey 28, Caprock 17

Friday games

Amarillo High (4-1, 2-0) vs. Tascosa (4-1, 2-0) This is one of the top rivalries Amarillo has ever seen;

Game number 64 looks to be nothing close to routine.

AHS has beaten the Rebs the last two years,

Lub. Coronado (5-0 1-0) vs. Lubbock High  (0-2, 2-4), 7 p.m.

Look at the records of these two from The Hub City;

And yes, those records means this one won’t be pretty.

Of course, Coronado and QB Robertson can score galore;

Randall (2-4, 0-2) at Plainview (2-3, 0-1), 7 p.m Randall is desperate to keep alive the playoff dream;

Plainview is in the same boat as this Raiders team.

Randall’s four losses are by a total of 15 points;

Wichita Falls Rider (5-1, 2-0) at Lubbock Cooper (5-1, 2-0). … Postponed due to COVID-19.

Wichita Falls High (2-2, 1-1) at Abilene Wylie (2-1, 1-0), 7 p.m.

Old High is riding ol’ Mo from nipping Randall last week;

Wylie is a football team far from meek.

Things could get a little crazy on the scoreboard.

Class 4A

Pampa (8-1, 1-1) at Dumas (8-1, 2-0), 7 p.m.

Dumas proved last week it’s the team to beat in 3-4A;

The Demons home winning streak is 13, hey, hey, hey!

Pampa is banged up but still has eyes on a share of the crown;

However, Dumas is about to let their fans frown. … Dumas 31, Pampa 10

Canyon (7-1, 1-1) at Hereford (3-5, 0-2), 7 p.m. Canyon is in no mood to mess around after the Dumas loss.

But the Whitefaces want a win for DeLozier, their boss.

The Eagles defense will take care of this one;

Perryton (3-5, 2-1) at Borger (1-8, 1-2), 7 p.m.

Perryton and Coach Hab has clinched a playoff berth;

Canadian (8-1, 5-0) at Childress (7-1, 4-1), 7 p.m. A fantastic rivalry that has blossomed over the past five years rekindles at Fair Park Stadium in Childress on Friday night. No. 1 Canadian is going for a seventh straight outright district title. The Bobcats would love nothing more than to pull the upset. … Canadian 35, Childress 20

Spearman (8-1, 4-1) at Tulia (4-5, 1-4), 7 p.m. The Lynx wrap up the regular season in style on the road. … Spearman 44, Tulia 12

Highland Park (2-7, 2-3) at Friona (5-4, 2-3), 7 p.m. It’s a simple scenario. The winner is headed to the Class 3A Division II playoffs, while the loser heads to basketball season. … Friona 36, Highland Park 14

Sanford-Fritch (1-8, 1-4) at Panhandle (7-2, 4-0), 7 p.m. The Panthers are playing some really good football at the right time. … Panhandle 54, Sanford-Fritch 13

Farwell (7-2, 3-1) at Olton (6-3, 3-1), 7 p.m. This should be a heck of a ball game. Despite a loss to Panhandle, the Steers know what it takes to win. The Mustangs are another squad playing extremely well. The winner clinches the No. 2-seed out of the district with a W. … Farwell 30, Olton 24

WT High (3-6, 1-3) at Boys Ranch (0-9, 0-4), 7 p.m. The Comanches are postseason bound with a victory. … WT High 46, Boys Ranch 8

Sunray (5-4, 2-1) at Vega (7-2, 3-0), 7 p.m. Can the Longhorns get geared up after an emotional win against Stratford. They’ll need to if they want to claim the outright District 3-2A Division II crown. … Vega 38, Sunray 20

Stratford (4-5, 2-1) at Booker (2-6, 0-3), 7 p.m. The Elks are a tough team to beat when November rolls around. A victory against the Kiowas will assure Stratford the No. 2-seed out of the district. … Stratford 48, Booker 13
