Jordyn Gove, Randall volleyball, Jr.
On the court: Gove and the Randall Lady Raiders have had a tremendous start to the 2022 season. The hard-hitting right-hander continues to make life tough for her opponents which showed in sweeps over Pampa and Dumas last week. The junior ended both matches with double-double performances. Against Pampa, Gove knocked down 16 kills and hit the floor for 20 digs. In the victory against Dumas, Gove was once again superb showing her scrappy defense with 16 digs to go with 13 kills. Through 31 games this season Randall’s leader has totaled an eye-opening 362 kills with 305 digs, 42 aces and 20 blocks.
Coach Haleigh Burns: “Jordyn always works hard and is a big part of what we do. She’s become a leader and has taken control in the locker room and on the court. Last week she did what she needed to do to help make her team better. What I love about her the most is she always steps up in the biggest moments. To me she is the best player in Amarillo. She’s also humble, and one of the hardest working students in the classroom. She ranks in the top of her class and cares about school as much as she does volleyball. We just love her.”
Gove: “I think the team culture is a lot different than others. We have great chemistry and great work ethic in practice that prepares us for winning games when it matters. We lean on each other and put trust in one another. I feel like I’ve been playing better than this point last year. I had a good offseason, and my team makes me look better. My teammate Sidney Soria makes me look good though. She is an amazing setter, and a reason I get set up so well. But right now, we are all just having fun and we have great chemistry we hope can take us on a long playoff run.”
