Konnar McClendon, Canadian, cross country, Fr.

On the course: McLendon continued her tremendous cross country season by not only helping the Canadian Lady Cats to their first district championship since 1996 last Wednesday, but also winning the individual title at the Palo Duro Lake Park course in Spearman.

The freshman won the individual district championship thanks to a dominating 2-mile time of 12:42.56 for her fourth win of the season.

McLendon and her team are now set to run at the Region I-3A meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock on Monday.

Coach Aaron Marks: “Konnar has had a great year for us. As a runner she is a tremendous, but she’s an even better kid. She’s been a great leader for this young team, and she’s exactly the

kind of person you want to follow. We’d ran at Spearman two week prior, and she improved her time from then to the district meet. That shows how much she’s improving and the work she puts in. I have no doubt she’ll step up once again at regionals.”

McClendon: “I feel it’s been a very good year for myself and especially our team. We’ve been blessed. We’ve really done a great job bonding through our morning practices, and it has just been a lot of fun. My season individually has been good. I enjoy getting working out with my team, and our goal now is to get to state.”
