Emma Troxell, Bushland, volleyball, Jr.
On the hardwood: Troxell is a significant reason the Bushland Lady Falcons are headed back to defend their UIL Class 3A state title, and hopefully bring back the program’s sixth crown in 16 years.
During three wins last week against Shallowater, Brock, and Holliday, Troxell was absolutely stellar. The Division I basketball prospect knocked down nine kills against Shallowater, then during the Region I-3A Tournament, the junior combined for 33 kills and eight blocks against Brock and Holliday to earn Region 1-3A Tournament MVP honors.
Coach Jason Culpepper: “Emma has come in and done a tremendous job. She’s athletic, she’s very coachable, and wants to do the best she can for her team. She played well in the Shallowater game, then at the regional tournament she had two really big games. She’ll be the first to tell you, she can’t do it without her team. That’s why she’s great. She’s unselfish, and always does what’s best for the team.”
Troxell: “I think we’ve really grown as a team, and we just keep growing. We just want to keep getting better to finish this out. I really have started to love volleyball. It’s a great balance before basketball. But I wouldn’t be where I am right now without my teammates. We all just want to make each other better. The goal now is to go win state one more time.”
