The Dumas Demons are making an early season statement that they are a serious contender, securing their second straight lopsided win of the season.

Dumas wasted no time jumping all over Caprock with 17 first quarter points on the way to a one-sided 48-28 victory Thursday night at Dick Bivins Stadium.

The Demons (2-0) have dominated both Perryton and the Longhorns, winning by an average of 24.5 points a game.

Caprock, the defending District 2-5A Division I champions, remain winless at 0-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dumas was able to sway the moment early in the first quarter off two costly Caprock mistakes.

After holding the Longhorns deep in their own territory, linebacker Cade Cox came free on a punt block, tackling punter Devin Smith in his own endzone for a 2-point safety.

Later in the first quarter, with Dumas now leading 10-0, things went from bad to worse for theLonghorns when they fumbled on a kickoff return allowing Dumas to recover inside the Longhorns 35-yard line.

Demons quarterback Spencer Williams made Caprock pay later in the drive connecting with Jacob Mares on a 9-yard scoring pass, putting Dumas up 17-0 with 3:55 to play in the first quarter.

Dumas never trailed, leading as much as 34-7 in the third quarter and 41-14 midway through the fourth.

DUMAS D

The Demons defense made Caprock a one-dimensional football team. Dumas help Caprock to 95 yards of offense in the first half, with 21 of those yards coming on the ground. For the game Caprock put up 325 total yards but only rushed it 21 times for nine yards. Dumas also held the Longhorns to 4 of 15 on third downs.
