It wasn’t the best of nights for rivals Amarillo High and Randall in its respective Class 5A regional semifinals Tuesday night.
The Lady Sandies fell in five-sets to Grapevine, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17, 17-25, 15-5, at Wichita Falls High.
AHS fell behind 2-1, only to rally to force the fifth set before running out of gas in the end. The Lady Sandies finish a fantastic season at 19-5. AHS had won 19 straight and were the District 3-5A champions. Currie Marusak wrapped up her season with nine kills, four blocks and four aces despite the loss. Teammate Brielle Worley added 10 digs and nine kills.
The Lady Raiders had a long road trip to Denton where they were swept by Denton High 25-13, 25-18, 25-14.
Randall, which made it to the state finals a year ago, see a solid season end at 15-4.
Kiar Parker ended her fantastic career making seven kills, three blocks and an ace. Maretta Ramirez added 10 assists with two aces.
