What a night it was for River Road.
Coach Bryan Welps team jumped all over Littlefield in the first half, to go on for a 41-13 victory at home Friday night.
With the win, River Road (4-6, 2-3) clinches the final playoff spot of District 2-3A Division I, while Littlefield gets eliminated due to Shallowater’s win over Slaton.
River Road will move on to the Class 3A Division I playoffs to face Denver City at 7 p.m. Thursday at PlainsCapital Park-Lowrey Field in Lubbock.
In a game dominated by two run teams, River Road was able to take over by rushing for 364 total yards while holding Littlefield to 147 yards on the ground.
Quarterback Lance Welps and running Brandon Belcher were the main weapons Friday. Welps rushed for 168 yards on 24 carries with three touchdowns, followed by Belcher who scored three TDs of his own on 20 carries for 137 yards.
Bushland rolls Muleshoe for unbeaten regular season
The Bushland Falcons capped off a perfect regular season with a 76-0 blanking of Muleshoe on Friday night on the road.
The No. 5 Falcons complete their first 10-0 season since 2009, claiming the outright District 2-3A Division I championship.
Bushland moves on to play Tornillo (1-9) at 6 p.m. Friday in Denver City in the Class 3A Division I bidistrict round.
Running back Coleman Junnell had 82 yards rushing with two touchdowns in the victory against Muleshoe.

Canadian caps off perfect regular season

The No. 1-ranked Canadian Wildcats pulled away from Spearman Friday night for a 46-17 victory at Lynx Stadium.
The Lynx hung in early, until Canadian pulled away by outscoring Spearman 26-7 in the second half.
Hayze Hufstedler piled up the yards, as the Wildcats running back ran for 156 yards on 13 carries with two touchdowns.
Canadian finishes the year at 10-0, its second unbeaten season in the last three years
The Wildcats also won their 37th straight district game dating back to 2012, while improving a regular season win streak to 15 straight.
Canadian advances to the Class 3A Division II playoffs where they’ll face Bangs at 7 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
