Amarillo High girls roll over Palo Duro to stay atop District 3-5A standings

The No. 7 Amarillo High Lady Sandies took the early lead and rolled the rest of the way, routing Palo Duro 54-24 at home to maintain their status atop the district.

Amarillo High (28-4, 5-1) scored the first 10 points of the game, forcing Palo Duro (16-13, 2-3) to play catch-up the rest of the way. The Lady Sandies held the Lady Dons to a single point in the second quarter to take a 32-6 halftime lead and assert their control of the game.

Mckenzie Smith led Amarillo High with 14 points, including 10 in the first half. Taytum Bell scored 13 and Jada Graves had 10. Freshman Lexie Guerrero led Palo Duro with 10 points.
