AHS takes two in Abilene; Tascosa falls short to Lubbock-Cooper, Bushland rolls

The last full weekend of non-district action is in the books for Texas Panhandle volleyball teams.

As of this time next week, it will be full go into the district season.

The Tascosa Lady Rebels found themselves in a tough clash with Lubbock-Cooper on Saturday. The Lady Rebels gave the Lady Pirates all they wanted, but came up short falling in a five-set classic, 25-20, 23-25, 31-29, 18-25, 21-19.

Bebe Irwin did everything in her power to help Tascosa leading the way with 17 kills and five blocks. Abrey Galt was also stellar getting the ball to Irwin and the hitters racking up 52 assists.

Cooper standout Hope Douglass had a great game knocking down 20 kills, adding 12 digs for a double-double, and five aces.

Tascosa drops to 19-11 overall. Cooper is 24-10.

Amarillo High went on the road to Abilene Wylie on Friday and nabbed two sweeps of Grandbury and Nolan Catholic. The Lady Sandies (21-11) downed Grandbury 25-13, 25-14, 25-18, then swept Nolan Catholic 25-14, 25-14, 25-15.

Brielle Worley combined for 19 kills in both victories. Jo Moffitt totaled 50 assists.

Bushland bounced back from a loss Tuesday to Lubbock-Cooper in Abilene taking down Monahans, 25-6, 25-10, 25-22, at Frenship Saturday.

Falcons improve to 19-4 overall.

Kaela Neie stacked up 10 kills to lead the way, and teammate Jaycee Adams made 16 digs.
