Amarillo High stays hot
The No. 6-ranked Amarillo High Lady Sandies placed six players in double-digits on the way to hitting the century mark against rival Tascosa in a 101-55 beating on Friday night at the AHS Activity Center.
AHS (24-5) sweeps the season series from the Lady Rebels, and stays unbeaten in District 3-5A at 7-0. Tascosa falls to 11-16, 3-4.
Briley Barnes and McKenzie Smith combined for 55 points with Barnes scoring a team-high 23, followed by Smith’s 22.
Canadian-Bushland set for round 2
Neither Canadian nor Bushland looked ahead before their District 1-3A showdown this coming Tuesday night in Bushland.
Canadian won the first meeting in come-from-behind fashion, 45-42 in Canadian.
The No. 1-ranked Lady Cats dominated Highland Park 69-28 behind Briley Merket’s 23 points. The Lady Falcons went on the road and beat Dalhart 61-39 thanks to 17 points from Brooklyn Boyett.
Canadian is now 28-1 overall and 7-0 in district. Bushland improves to 20-6 overall and 6-1.

Canyon’s Whitney Willeford tallied 15 points to keep the Lady Eagles perfect in District 4-4A by beating Perryton 73-20.
Fresh off reaching 2,500 career points on Tuesday, Gruver’s Bailey Maupin lit up Stratford for 22 points during a 61-21 victory.
Kyla Kane poured in 22 to help Wellington ease past Wheeler, 60-16, and stay in a first place tie in District 2-2A.
