District 3-5A title coming down to Friday

Amarillo High stayed perfect through District 3-5A after dismantling Caprock 65-39 at the Caprock Activity Center on Tuesday night.

The Sandies (26-6) are now 8-0 in district, and can clinch the outright championship at Palo Duro on Friday.

Speaking of Palo Duro, the Dons took the season series from rival Tascosa thanks to a convincing 70-44 victory Tuesday. The Dons (23-4) trail AHS by a game in the standings at 6-1.

AHS won the first meeting over Palo Duro handily, 71-41.

Canyon clinches 4-4A crown

The Canyon Eagles continued their terrific season by soaring past Pampa 55-47 at home Tuesday.

The Eagles are red-hot improving to 23-5 overall and 8-0 in District 4-4A. With Borger downing Dumas 71-49, the Eagles also win the outright district championship. Parker Cunningham led Canyon with 14 points against the Harvesters.

Tuesday’s top performers

Gage Martinez is playing some lights out basketball of late. Martinez poured in 33 points to help Borger beat Dumas 71-49.

Clarendon’s Jmaury Davis put up 20 points in the Broncos blowout win 87-28 win against Memphis. The defending Class 2A state champions also clinched the District 2-2A championship.

Levi Ashurst did it all for Wheeler scoring 20 points to lift the Mustangs past Panhandle 53-50.
